Emu XL-7 & MP-7 User's Group

I am reading the manual and it says that the sysex data is 
available online because it is too large to include in the manual.

I am interested in learning how one would use the command 
station to make a patch change on a external synth that it is 
controlling.

Anyone know how to do this?

I haven't tried it, but I would assume that a patch change message 
would be very easy to embed in a track, if you are using an external 
sequencer for track construction. Since it would receive the patch 
change message every time the loop went round you'ld probably need to 
program it during a pause - unless your synth is capable of 
instantaneous patch changes. Most of my gear wouldn't be able to do 
this seamlessly. 

However, I you mean embeding it in the trigger pad, it probably can't 
be done, at least with the current OS.

hmmm, thanks for the response.

I am thinking in these terms -

Let's say I am using a Virus kb, and I am using the command 
station to control it (as well as other gear as well). 

I select another User Pattern bank because I am finished with 
that particular song/pattern currently being played by the XL7. So 
I select another pattern user bank that I created on the XL7, can I 
have the command station send MIDI commands to the Access 
Virus to change its patch as well (i.e. to the one I need for this 
new pattern bank), or do I need to manually change the patch on 
the Virus to play a new sound/patch for my new XL7 pattern I am 
now moving on to (like on MIDI channel 16, for instance)?

I would think this would be a great addition to the unit if it can be 
done as it would definitely ease playback anxiety in a live 
performance situation. Especially if you could embed this 
command in a track(s) for many external pieces of gear.

I agree, being able to place Patch changes and other 'setup' commands 
is an essential feature of a live hardware sequencer - not only when 
using it with other synths, but to control anything placed on the 
units sub-outs. 

I've only just started powering up the fx in my live rig, so I 
haven't worked out how they will behave yet. Further experimenting to 
follow.

Emu guys, I was wondering where we should file feature requests and 
bug reports. Is this a good forum for them, or would you prefer them 
offline?
