I'm trying to upgrade my MP7 from OS version 1.0.1 to 2.2.6. E-Loader is telling me that no valid midi devices have been detected. The grid player thing works, so I know my laptop is connected correctly. I read that I need to use commandprep 1.0.dli file first, but that's not making a difference.
I'm using an old HP Thinkpad Pentium 4 with Windows XP, USB to MIDI connector.
1. Are you using e-loader 1.1? 2. Do you have a complete midi roundtrip (PC midi out to CS midi in and vice versa? 3. What midi-usb interface do you have? (Some budget 1x1 interfaces are known to have issues with sysex). 4. Can you get sequences from the CS successfully and can you send them to the CS successfully? (Is this what you mean by the gird player thing?) 5. You are correct that before a certain OS, you need to install the command prep. Were you able to do that successfully? 6. Are you getting a getting a message somewhere that says "no valid midi device has been detected?" If so, where are you getting that? 7. Have you booted the CS to update OS mode? (I forget what the keys are to press, I think its Audition and Enter).
Hi. Thanks for the reply. I think I need to try a different MIDI interface.
Answers to your questions:
1)Yes
2)Yes. I can play the MP7 with the MIDI tracker in E-loader, and can
play Ableton instruments from the MP7 pads.
3)It's a cheapo HDE

4)No. Can't seem to get sequences to xfer to E-loader
5)Nope. The OS Downloader is failing before it gets that far.
6)When I click on the Download OS File to Target button. THe status
actually says "Download Request Received" before I press the button.
7)Yes. I booted it with the Home key held down. The display says

i am having this problem also. usb will not install with my 1.0 mp-7 on xp or win7 computers, whereas my 2.0 xl7 usb devices install correctly with two usb devices showing up as usual. the 1.0 mp7 only shows one usb device and it does not install properly and is not compatible with either of the included emu drivers
i hope it is due to it being 1.0 that the usb will not install and that it was updated in later os's(?). now i am more anxious to upgrade since i cannot use e-loader either without the usb installed. anyone else who can't upgrade the os still able to get the usb working?
