Hi Patrick,

check the following:
 - select a track,
 - press "Pattern Edit" button,
 - scroll to "Channel Assign" screen.

Now you have two sets (A/B) of 16 channels: 01A .. 16A, 01B .. 16B, so you can select the both the channel and the MIDI output. Accodring to manual you can also make a multichannel track (by selecting MultiA or MultiB), but I've never tried it, so can't advise here.

Moreover, you can double the excitement, using "both" in Destination (instead of "internal" or ";external"). That way you can control your old gear AND MP7 at the same time, for instance layering some digital pad on top of your Juno-106 .

Obviously, if you only want to control you external gear, you choose "external". There's nothing in the fundamental laws of physics (as prof. Brian Cox says), which could stop you from having track 6 on external channel 01A, track 9 on external channel 01B - both controlling two different hardware synths, connected to Out A & B, respectively, and on top of that having track 11 on internal channel 01A, controlling MP7 - they won't clash, and will be completely independent.

However, you can also have track 4 on external channel 01A, and have track 5 on channel 01A "both" - that way you can for example use MP7 engine to add some twist to certain notes sent to your external gear.

Hope you will have fun exploring those options,

Bruno

Ok just had to throw this question out there. I'm sure the may seem obvious to some of you but I'm sure that I am not the only one wondering what the purpose of saying the command station has 32 channels for recording when I am still only able to have a single set of 1-16 to record to anyway?
One of the main points when I bought this machine in 2007 was to sequence old gear that ran strictly on channel 1.
I'm happy to hear input about why the machine was layed out in this fashion.
Thank you in advance.

I'd also like to add alot of gear has come and gone over the years in my studio however the MP7 will forever stay because without a doubt it's the best piece of kit I have ever owned and never quits surprising me.

Thanks for the reply.
However am I not still only limited to 16 tracks of recording despite assignment of in/ex/both?
