New owner, a few questions

New owner, a few questions

A few initial questions on Command Station -

Workflow seems pretty good..  My data wheel does skip occasionally, especially if I am scrolling fast - curious how fast/accurate it can be if encoder was replaced/ cleaned to be as new.  I could see workflow being fairly fast on editing tasks if a proper data wheel had a really quick response and accuracy - I don't really know fast of a response it has if acting 'new'

When using the left/right buttons to jump to screen parameters I am having problems .. I am unclear if it appears to jump/not jump to expected parameter because of failing of buttons or some design where left/right don't always jump to obvious places.

The track/mute buttons do sometimes take a few presses, or pressure on different angle to work.  I was able to update to OS 2 and they seemed to respond better after the update, not sure why.   If I was to get a new pcba board for the right side - would the buttons work with a quick easy touch every time? Or do they even 'new' have a little bit of room for hit/miss depending on touch.  I am not using for live use, so it is not essential at this point about having to press buttons sometimes more than once to get to work... but for speed of workflow it might be worth it if a new board would result in no worry - one touch and it always hits..

Is it possible to save preset with layer solo settings?  Not really sure how these are used..  I was trying to basically 'mute' one layer and turning the other 3 on for solo worked, however did not save this way.  I just ended up dropping layer volume of the one I wanted to -96 but just curious.

Is there soldering involved in replacing PCBA board?

Have not figured out yet how to get a roll/repeat working.

Thank you much.

Am very impressed with this piece.. The realtime record of knob functions is awesome.  Step sequencing is amazingly quick (minus the button issues) - love just changing notes then it automatically puts to record last note in step sequence;.

The command station encoder is switch based (as opposed to optical) so they can and do wear out. I am not sure if a new one would guarantee no skipping but it would likely make a big improvement.

I think they would work every time.

No soldering needed for the swap. The Command Station is well built and easy to work on. An important thing to keep in mind is that all of the front panel LED’s that aren’t embedded in a switch use “Light Pipes”. These are small pieces of clear plastic and are very easily lost so I would suggest opening up the CS in a laundry bucket or something like that. Ask me how I know that. J

Thanks,
