I have some ideas, but I am not entirely sure what you are doing. Depending on what you are doing, it could be different things.
I will try the simple approach, assuming you recorded the track with midi data on one (and only one) channel for that track.
1. Go into pattern edit mode
2. Enter the event editor
3. Look to see if there is a program change event at the beginning of the pattern
4a. If so, change that to the preset you want.
4b. If not, insert a program change event and change it to the one you want.
5. Save the pattern.
I would be surprised if I guessed what you did on the first try, but its a starting point. If this solves the problem, I would guess that you didn't save the pattern after you dialed up the preset you wanted.
It could be many other things, too. Are you in multitimbral mode?
Questions: How did you "change to the next track?" Are you in record mode trying to record on several successive tracks? Perhaps the issue relates to your use of the RECHANNELIZE INPUT setting. (See Midi menu system.)
