Not trying to be nitpicking, but this is MIDI Clock, and Start/Stop is
MMC (MIDI Machine Control). It would make no sense, however, to send
only MMC with no Clock at all...

i tried turning the transmit midi clock to off but it still switches the sampler out of the module. i guess i can live with it though, or get an asr-10 instead : /

Hmmmmm. I thought MMC was something different. Just looked it up--I was right--MMC is something totally different. I also thought that parameter controlled Midi start (FA), continue (FB), and stop (FC)bytes as well as F8s [midi clock]. I will see if I can test this.

the original eiii has the option to turn off external song start/stop receive. the eiiix does not have this feature. every other feature in the midi sub menu is the same as the original eiii except it is missing that parameter : (

Hmmmmm. If the "module switching" [not sure what that is] only happens when you press play, not when you dial up a new pattern, then I don't think the source of the problem is the pre-roll sysex data that gets sent.

Out of curiosity, what "modules" does the eiii switch out of and what mode does it switch into?

Thanks for the explanation; it clarifies the problem.

It is still a mystery as to what kind of data is causing the sampler to jump out of any of the edit modes and into the default preset mode.
