i am wondering if the audio coming into the cs via the sub/mix inputs also goes to the spdif out?

Not exactly.. yes They are routable by midi channel but they are also routable by preset layer if you choose.
For example you could build a 4 layer drum kit with bass drum layer going out sub out 1 (1-2 panned left) snare layer on sub out 2 (1-2 panned right) and hats on sub out 3-4 in stereo, and since they are inserts you could compress these all seperately with hardware compressors and send them back into the main mix.
I am setting them up. The S/DIF parallels the master out, which I understand as all tracks except any separately routed to the sub outs.
The sub mix channels appear to be locked to specific midi channels, i.e., sending the output on a channel by channel selection to one or the other submix ports, mono or stereo. You don't see the sub out option in the Global menu unless there is a a cable plugged in.

does anyone use these and is it as a mixer for other gear or to process the cs sounds? i am wondering if the audio coming into the cs via the sub/mix inputs also goes to the spdif out?

It`s great!!! But can anybody tell me how i can make a parallel NY style compression with this??? Now i have all drums routed to sub out1 and into 2 channel compressor with insert cables, and with this i have only compressed drums, but i need to mix them with uncompressed signal. How??? thanks. --- In xl7@yahoogroups.com, Matt <somatt@...> wrote: > > Not exactly.. yes They are routable by midi channel but they are also > routable by preset layer if you choose. > For example you could build a 4 layer drum kit with bass drum layer going > out sub out 1 (1-2 panned left) snare layer on sub out 2 (1-2 panned right) > and hats on sub out 3-4 in stereo, and since they are inserts you could > compress these all seperately with hardware compressors and send them back > into the main mix. > On Nov 3, 2012 11:12 AM, "D F Tweedie" <bienpegaito@...> wrote: > > > ** > > > > > > I am setting them up. Yes u can use them as a mixer basically they are insert jacks. Unfortunately this audio coming back in through sub only routes to main analog output.

Send the drums out submix 1 AND out the main. You will have to set this up inside the preset menu. Then in routing for that channel you will have to choose preset and NOT submix 1.
the drum coming out main will be uncompressed the drum coming out submix 1 insert send u can compress to taste and route back to the submix 1 insert return. They will be mixed back in at the main analog outs.On Nov 3, 2012 12:16 PM, "nikitsanpsix" <nikitsan@...> wrote:It`s great!!! "in preset menu i have send2->sub1 for example,"yes, but which layer is pointed at send2 -> sub1? Every preset has four layers. each layer can point at a different output or multiple outputs. There is a number very small in the corner while you're editing the preset which displays which layer you are editing. A means all.alternatively you could use cords to route the knob controls to the sends and do it that way.Basically you need whatever you want to paralell compress to come out both send2 -> sub1 AND main. Then you need to apply compression to taste on the insert send2 (sub1), and then adjust your volumes to taste."and in global menu>mix output i have use preset."this is the correct setting to do what you want. your problem lies in the first area.
