PSU dead

PSU dead

2012-10-28 by Bruno

Hi guys,

yesterday my XL-7 didn't power up, after switching it on it didn't
even blink. I opened the PSU, remembering there were some reports
about leaking condensers (correct me if I'm wrong), and noticed the
fuse was intact, so no easy win.

I will try to get someone more tech-savvy to take a look at the PSU,
but soon I will have a surplus P2K (which I bought for ROMs only), so
my question is: does anybodu knows if the PSUs are interchangeable
between sound modules and Command Station?

Cheers,

Bruno

Can't say definitively about sound modules in general, but I have tested that the PSU in a P2500 module is compatible with the command stations and vice-versa.

Hi,

Ask your tech to check resistor R7 (120Kohms) in the power supply to see if it is open circuit. The resistor may be discoloured to the point where it is impossible to read the value.

Cheers,
