Any recent new finds/creations for rack ears? I recall reading about people considering making some, and/or finding some generic rack pieces that could be cut and used with the Command Stations... I'm just looking for a cheap and dirty solution that works... Thanks!

thanks; i'm wondering if something already made might work too--for example, search ebay under "cisco rack ears," and you will see many ears that have multiple holes already on the ears that might work (with no drilling, cutting, etc.). i think you would need to use two on each side of the command station, and they may not fit PERFECTLY (like they would not be totally flush with the surface face of the emu), but these might work... what do you think? thx... --- In xl7@yahoogroups.com, Nathan Steele <XTCaine303@...> wrote: > > I measured and it looks like you could use 1"x2" aliminum angle > extrusion, cut to length and drilled out in the right places. Thanks for this! I'll try a ready-made solution. Have fun cutting and fabricating; with a saw and a drill I would likely lose several fingers and drill holes thru my hands. Though interesting, this would not actually help get the command station mounted into a rack... --- In xl7@...m, Nathan Steele <XTCaine303@...> wrote: > > I tried the cisco rack ears from my pix 515E which was the only piece I > had not mounted in a rack and in use. > It looks like they would work, but you would need to put a spacer > between them and the CS body, looks like maybe an 1/8" on each side. the > rack I tested on is one with clip nuts so a fixed hole rack may be > different (t6he alignment wasn't perfect, but I believe close enough. > note that you would need four ears minimum, so 2 sets. > > these universal ones would probably work too, note that the pix 515 has > different mounting holes than say the 29xx series of switches, so those > may not work. > http://www.ebay.com/itm/170871812925?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649 > it does not say pix 515e but notice it does have quite an array of holes. > > I think I would opt for the 1x2" angle aluminum.
