Pop Collection ROM confusion

Pop Collection ROM confusion

2012-06-26 by carpatium_xxl

Hi, I will soon be a proud owner of PX-7 and am thinking of expanding it with Pop Collection ROM. Now, I've heard an mp3 sample of the Simplex pad preset on synthmania's PK-6 page which I really like. This preset is only available as a part of additional bank on PK-6. The P2500 doesn't have it (at least by looking the manual). How's that since the ROM is the same on both? Will I be able to access the additional bank of PK-6 on PX-7 with this ROM?

Thanks!

My 2 cents, I have the PX-7 w(Drum) rom with 4 banks. Also expanded with the(PROM1) rom pop rom with 5 banks, which is also in myProteus 2500 (PROM1) rom with 5 banks, which alot of people sayis the(CMPSR) rom, remade with presets to be different than the Proteus 2000 (CMPSR) rom 8 banks. Lots of different rom names but tweaked differently. My (PROM1)'s romare the same in both machines. If that helps. ????
Have fun making music.

Sorry, but I forgot to sayYES. The "Simplex Pad" does show up on my PX-7, number 078 bank 4 of the (PROM1) rom which is the 5th bank of what seems to be sold on Ebay as the POP rom?
Hope that helps

Re: Pop Collection ROM confusion - Footnotes re PROM1 Bank4 and P2500 ROM

2012-06-27 by steve_the_composer

Footnote:
Newer ROMs which have identical ROM Instruments as earlier versions have additional resources. Particularly worth noting are the additional BTS riffs in the newer versions.

So, I loaded bank 4 of PROM1 into User Bank 0 for my P2500. As expected, the presets were all playable (including 078^0 pad:Simplex). Since the P2500 ROM doesn't have the newer riffs, the jam and bts presets don't work as they would with PROM1. The mix presets do work, since they all seem to use riffs that are on the P2500.

Since the riff numbers are higher than the riffs found on the P2500, they show up as not installed:

AUDITION RIFF P2500
Plays:(not installed)

Any of the Bank 4 presets which have links seem to use linked presets from banks 0 -> 3, so those work as well.

Based on this, I would assume that once the ROM ID on Bank 4 presets are converted to the P2K Composer ROM ID, the presets should work as noted above--where the CMPSR ROM has the correct riff, audition should work; where the CMPSR ROM doesn't have either the P2500 or PROM1 riff, audition, beats, and jam wil not work.

However, if you have BTS riffs in your E-Mu, you might be able to create something that works for you.

Steve
