Hey all, I have an XL-7 and am having trouble using the master arpeggiator, I followed the manual to the menu, scrolled through the names of the patterns, but the musical pattern doesn't change, after I press enter, etc...only the name of the pattern does. I maybe have to reinitialize the instrument? Does this eliminate all the preset patterns and voices, or just restore them to the factory defaults? Thanx, CORDS & JEANS INC.

Try changing the arp setting to M in the main screen.

If you reinitialize the XL-7 by going into diagnostics mode you stand to wipe out user presets and/or sequencer content. It is more of a last resort. The suggestion to change the preset mode to M for Master Arpeggiator, is a good first step to solve your problem, though it might not work depending on the various settings. For example, if you have the clock set to external and no external clock, the arp will seem to do nothing. Perhaps by now you have solved the problem. If not there are several things I would do to diagnose the problem. First, are you using a factory arp preset? If not, I would go to a factory arp preset, make sure the arp mode is set to P [meaning that the XL-7 will use the arp settings in the preset], and play a note. If that doesn't work, I'd check the clock/tempo source. If you still have the problem and this suggestion doesn't help, there might be other things to check. Usually, the factory presets when played from the sound ROM work. Bullseye. The first suyggestion to switch the preset mode to M did the trick. I now know my unit is not defective and the operations are sound. This is a damn complex tool and I'm still figuring ti out. Would dearly love to expand it someday with MP7 and PX7 roms. Fantastic machine though, I love it! Thanks for your help.
