E-Mu Legacy Documentation

2011-09-19 by steve_the_composer

To all new members who have joined looking for E-Mu documentation after finding out that CreativeLabs put the final nail in the legacy gear support coffin:

First of all--WELCOME!!!

Second, look in the files section here and in some of the other Yahoo groups (P2K, Orbit, XL-1, P2500, etc.). If you don't see what you need, ask--someone here or in one of the other groups might have it.

I have plans to coordinate the preservation of e-documents (having a whole batch myself, somewhere), but was out of town last weekend and have been busy nursing a nasty cold since. As soon as I can, I will compile a list of what I have, double check them to make sure the files have not become corrupt over the years, and post a HAVE/NEED list.

I am thinking of several options for making the collection available.

And by the way, you might want to rethink any future CreativeLab purchases. If there are other manufacturers for what you want, you might want to weigh the history of their support for "legacy" products. Consider for example midi and/or audio interfaces/sound cards and/or software that used to work under Windows XP--has the manufacturer produced Win7 (32 bit and 64 bit) drivers or upgrades?

Hello all. First post here!

I don't yet own a CS, but am ready to buy and have been watching the bay for a while.

In preparation I wanted to get the manual, and after finding the emu site redirecting to creativelabs, and not having access to any files (specifically worried about the OS update) I decided to email the customer support. I got a reply quickly enough from a real person, which was...

"We have revamped the website.
We are working on getting the legacy material back up.
Which command station do you have MP7 or XL7?

Thank You"

Don't want to keep rambling here, but just thought I'd share that. This was on Sept. 2nd, but hopefully they're still planning on putting the links back up...

Thanks for all the input here, I'm pumped to get this big little box!

I have seen a creativelabs support thread that the interest in e-mu legacy documentation being put back has been passed on to the web developer. So, maybe it will, maybe it won't.

In the meantime, check the Files section here, in the P2K group, and the Orbit 3 group. (There may be others too.) I am pretty sure OS2.0 for the command station is here, too. You might want to also check out the FAQs and the Tips and Tricks.

Of course, you can also ask questions if the manual doesn't cover what you want to know.

Steve

PS: For those who wanted E-Loader, the P2500 group evidently has it broken down into 7 smaller files (because it exceeds the max upload size for Yahoo).

Several sites for finding legacy documentation and files:

http://www.e-univercity.com/SynthGearDocs/
http://francisfisher.me.uk/problem/2011/emu-legacy-archive/
http://web.archive.org/web/20110725011736/http://www.emu.com/support/legacy.asp

Others may be doing likewise. Whether or not creative puts back the e-mu "legacy" gear support (which I hope they do), it would seem to be worthwhile to preserve these files.

I backed up all my E-MU stuff as well.I have a copy of the eloader 1.1 installer that was on the site if u need it.This is really a shame.I feel for all developers that put all that time, effort and genius into making these products for a company that does not appreciate them.

Can someone please upload it somewhere so I don't have to join another group? Thanks in advance!

Nevermind, I grabbed it and uploaded it here and on the XL1 group.

You uploaded e-loader 1.0. I am not sure how that differs from e-loader 1.1, but if it works for you, great. 1.0 is smaller than 1.1; that's why it fits here. (As I said, 1.1 is bigger than Yahoo allows.)

Re: E-Mu Legacy Documentation E-LOADER

Why can't WinRAR or WinZip be used to break down larger files into smaller packets? Like: Pt.1, Pt.2, etc., and then upload the packets one by one and place them in a folder?

Just wondering.
