Emu and Frankfurter Musikmesse, Sound ROMs etc.

Hi,

somebody here mentioned EMU did not show up at the Frankfurt
Musikmesse. True? This would be very strange!
Realm, didnt you say this should be because the Messe is regarded to
be an european event - so not too important to EMU, may be?
Well, I allways believed, the Messe is the biggest international fair
of the business, so EMU should have been there, no? Besidesu, Europe
should be the most important export market for a traditional US
Company like EMU. What is more, I still believe EMU is a Scottish
Company, now? So why stay away from a european fair "in the
neighbourhood"?
Once I worked with a german publisher. When things went bad, visiting
fairs was on top of the red marker list. I hope EMU had other reasons
to stay away. Actually I was interested to get some information on
when a p2500 card will be available for the XX-7. Didn´t they
announce in this group, it should be in t´he market pretty soon?

Another question to discuss:
About the XX-7 there is only little communication to be found on the
web compared to - say - the RS 7000. Hardly any substantial User
reviews on sonicstate or harmony-central since months. Instead you
find people wanting to sell their EMU boxes. How do you think the XX-
7 sells right now? I do not want to bitch the command stations here,
I am just curious if they support us with OS updates in the future.
To do so there must be a substantial amount of sold units in the
market, but I doubt there is - so I really rate EMUs user support
very high because of all the information and customer care given
here.
(I still miss a new OS desperately!!!)HOW LONG?????
What are your thoughts?

Yes, a Scotts company. Scott's Valley, California. I've been by the place - it's the big plaid painted castle on the windswept moor that overlooks Santa Cruz's best surfing beach.

The composer ROM is being given away with new XX-7s in some deals I have seen,.

reps to promote the same stuff that was debuted only a few months earlier
at NAMM. I think if they had something new to release, they would be
there. <<<

>>>My friend is the manager of the pro audio and keyboards divsion at a
local Guitar Center. He said they sold quite a few units at first, but
things have tapered off since all the talk of OS bugs has begun to
surface. He also said the one thing people ask for the most is sampling
on the XX-7's, and then go with RS7000's. Although most of them are
returned he told me, people complain about crappy sounds and OS issues
with those too :) <<<

Answers to many questions.

1. E-MU and MESSE. We do normally participate, but the uncertainties of
the economy, the fact that we meant with all of our top European dealers
at NAMM, and the new changes in the Hall's layout helped us decide not
to go. We hoped to back next year. Speaking for myself I sure did miss
the Hefeweizen. We did have lots of our gear in many dealer and
partnering companies at the show.

2. E-MU is from California, 10 minutes from the beach and the waves were
very nice this morning. Forecast for the day, 70 degrees F and Sunny. We
do have an office in Scotland. I never even gave the whole Scotts Valley
Scotland connection any thought, thanks Jonathan for pointing that out.
Quite interesting.

3. Sorry Heinrich, but our Marketing Communications Manager is German
Speaking. How about Spanish?

4. The new OS is being worked on, actually its done, now its up to our
SQA department to sigh it off.

typos! (was: Re: Emu and Frankfurter Musikmesse, Sound ROMs etc.)

Well Sean I hope your code doesn't have typos like your emails! Or
is SQA actually gonna go "<sigh>... yeah it's ok..."? :-)

Just joking - a little Aussie wind-up.

Rob
p.s. rEalm, I'm not gonna make it for the g-box battle. :-(
I'm going away for a month and leaving my purple beast at home....
Ummm.... that is, my MP-7 (in case you were wondering :-)
Unless we extend the deadline until mid May!?!?!?
Otherwise you're on you're own holding up the Emu end, by the looks
of things...
