Emu XL-7 & MP-7 User's Group

For about the first 10 minutes I have my mp7 on, it runs great. I can access my sequences, make beats. No problems. Then after about 15 minutes or so, I get a static popping sound whenever I play a sound. If I reboot, sometimes it just hangs on the startup screen, and sometimes it boots back up fine. However, once it's loaded back up, it will show the names of my sequences fine, but no sounds are loaded. Sometimes it will show 1 or 2 rom card names (I have 4 cards in the mp7), and sometimes it won't show any. I've taken tha back off, and checked the cables, but it sounds like it may be an overheating issue or something? Any ideas?

I don't know if it's related, but my XL-7 exhibited random clicks and pops which start to appear after about 15 minutes. It only happened when it is warm in the room so it seems to be temperature related. It's not the same amount as what you seem to be experiencing - in my case it was only every couple of minutes or so at the most, and no sounds seemed to be disappearing etc.

I 'fixed' it by getting a second Command Station, an MP-7, and swapping the main boards. I noticed that the MP-7 appears to have a patch wire mounted on it so I'm figuring there's a hardware problem with the original XL-7 design which was fixed in later command stations.
