The whole manual needs updating actually :) Speaking of which, are Emu going to redo the manual to reflect the changes form the OS updates, or simply stick with the addendums? I for one would like to have a complete manual when all is said and done... rEalm Now, to whoever handles documentation updates, this info should be included in the section for step recording (pp 66-7 in my copy.

A constantly-updated file on the Emu site would be nice, especially if it included your nifty list FAQ. PDF format would probably be what they'd opt for, tho publishers seldom format PDFs with screen users in mind. (The margins are nice in the bound book, but who needs 'em taking up screen real estate?) HTML format would be really nifty -- one could link into it -- and all those LCD displays could be done using <table>s. Some graphic files would be inevitable, of course. I imagine a folder setup like: /xx7/manual/ <--- with chapter1.html, etc. /xx7/manual/graphics/ Then we users could just grab the entire /manual/ folder, or link to it. --- * Radio Free Entropy: http://just-john.com/cn/rfe.shtml *

Say that again, mate! - They should stop overexplaining things and give more step by step working examples like How to set up an arrangement, How to record a song efficiently (this should work even if everybody has its own ideas going about writing songs etc.) They follow the chain of menues rather than tying things together that make sense most. And they hide by that what the XX-7 is able to do. The content (phrases, words) itself seems to be written nicely as long as I can judge as a non-mothertongue... Downloads should be a good idea for updating the Manual! I agree. We need an idiots manual. Something beyond basic sequenceing, presets. More on building and arranging songs. How many patterns do i use? Should i have a seperate pattern for each section of the song, (intro, verse, bridge, outro)? If so, how do you do this efficiently? How can I edit my arrangement? How can I incorporate my other modules & samplers into my arrangement? Also, while your explaining how all this is done, you can show us how to save our work correctly!! Call it the Command Station Bible/Cookbook. I know this may be explained in the manual, but not in detail. My birthday is Saturday, all I am asking for is an OS upgrade. Please!!YYYYYY

This thread is going in the right direction by recommending practical strategies. That's what allows us to make attractive music with these hypnotic composing machines. -Forneau --- heinrich22001 <hhuent@...> wrote: > > Say that again, mate! - They should stop > overexplaining things and > give more step by step working examples like How to > set up an > arrangement, How to record a song efficiently (this > should work even > if everybody has its own ideas going about writing > songs etc.) They > follow the chain of menues rather than tying things > together that > make sense most.
