New Member Question about e-loader

2011-04-08 by steve_the_composer

I am a mp7 owner. I can not open the read me file for e loader that comes with the software after installation, any help?
---------------------------------------------------------
First of all welcome. The readme file is an html file which should open up into any browser that can handle html. Double check the readme file in the Files section: http://launch.groups.yahoo.com/group/xl7/files/Command%20Station%20Info/ .
If the version posted here opens up into a browser, perhaps your e-loader download got corrupted. You could also try loading it into a simple program like wordpad. More importantly, I don't think the readme file has significant information. the pdf manual has more useful info.

Hope this helps.

Hey, Thanks Steve that did the trick. I was finally able to open the file. I
have downloaded E loader 1.0 and installed the upgrade to MP-7 the new version
successfully to 2.0 from 1.31. The only issues or minor ones 1.) I have been
trying to figure out the presets for download on the Emu support page. I have
tried to download whats offered on that page to the patterns section of E
loader, but they will not play once downloaded. I don't know what bank section
they should go in, songs or patterns. I don't see any preset download section in
the manual at all, only songs and patterns info ie.. SMF files (sequences)
upload and download. 2.) The Midi Tracker window of E loader does not show the
channel info MSB, LSB etc..... I really appreciate all of you guys help. I am a
film student thats required to design and score soundtracks for the movies that
I create any little advice goes a long way.

Thank you for your support once again.

Patches are usually either in System Exclusive format (.syx), or as in this particular case a System Exclusive MIDI dump saved in a MIDI sequence (.mid). E-loader does not deal with this kind of data, only with sequence files used as patterns and songs. So, you will need to use another program to send the patch banks from E-mu's site to your MP.

Just open the .mid file in your sequencer of choice and play it directly to your MP - you may need to change the track destination to make sure the data track is directed to the MP. Leave it running until it reaches the end of the data block.

Alternately, you can use one of these free programs to directly load the file to your MP-7:

Mac OS X: SysEx Librarian ( http://www.snoize.com/SysExLibrarian/ ) (freeware)
Windows: MIDI-OX ( http://www.midiox.com/ ) (free for non-commercial use)

Glad to hear that worked. If you have downloaded the factory patterns and songs for the MP-7, they should work with the MP-7 ROM without any tweaking. If you download factory patterns and songs for a ROM you don't have installed, they won't play. Each track has pointers to the correct presets (bank MSB/LSB and program change number).

I assume you have the MP-7 ROM installed. Were you able to successfully load the MP-7 factory songs and patterns in? and if so, do those play correctly?

BTW, I assume you have e-loader 1.1. Also, I assume you have full midi duplex and that e-loader shows your device correctly in the midi settings--especially since you were able to upgrade to OS2.0.

I will have to take a look at the midi monitor window another time. I know there's a filter that let's you choose which data it displays, but I haven't used it recently. What data do you want to see?

Re: [xl7] Re: New Member Question about e-loader

2011-04-18 by Kings Queensofshowbiz

When I fixed the pcb board awhile back, I noticed it had a proteus 2500 rom
installed. I don't know if this came with the MP-7 CS or someone installed it
because the CS is second hand, and did not work at all when I bought it. What I
was trying to download is preset banks ( Mo'Phatt preset banks) from Emu
support, the MpToMp7 preset banks 0-3. The factory pattern and songs download I
already have in the CS and did not need to reinstall them.

So, I don't have the Mo' Phatt rom installed thats why the presets will not
play? How many different ROM's can be installed in the CS? The Mp-7 should
automatically come with a Mp-7 ROM installed?

On the Midi Tracker (pg. 15) E-Loader Operation Manual, The Bank Select MSB, LSB
(program change # MSB.LSB.PC) will not display.

I have the Midi connection using M audio (midisport uno) that displays in
eloader and (emu USB midi device #0) display in midi setup. The upgrade to 2.0
is fine and I assume I am using E-Loader 1.1 because I downloaded it from Emu
support.

Hi. I have been busy lately and have not had a chance to fire up my e-loader 1.1 to try to see whats going on there.

As for the factory demo songs and patterns, if you have the P2500 ROM installed, the P2500 patterns should work. If you load them to the pattern bank 0, the songs should also work, because (if I remember correctly), the songs >>point to<< the >>patterns<< in pattern bank 0.

With the P2500 ROM, you might be interested in the 8 banks of the P2K Composer ROM which were converted to work with the P2500 (or a CS with the P2500 ROM). I believe they are in the files section.

Yes, without the specific ROM for which the presets are designed, they will not make any sound. That's because the presets (aka patches) point to ROM samples (or multisamples) in specific ROMS. (E-Mu calls these ROM instuments.)

The CS should have space for 4 ROMS.

I hope this helps clarify things.

Yes, it does clarify things a bit. I will try again later. Question, if it does
not play in the bank I loaded in how do I erase or remove it?

I appreciate it steve.
