Well the battle of the grooveboxes is forcing me to finally dig into my MP-7... Good! Question though: Sometimes when I go to hit save, the machine prompt me to save the preset, when really what I want to save is the pattern. Why is it doing this and how do I easily tell it what I want to save? Thanks, Rob http://www.mp3.com/hydraphonic

Make sure you're not in Preset mode, although it'll randomly happen
infrequently too. It pays to PAY ATTENTION while saving, no?

Indeed! Still cant work it out. Pressing pattern mode does not help, though going from pattern to song back to pattern seems to do the trick. Now I'm having the opposite problem though, trying to save a preset, the machine keeps prompting me to save a pattern! Arghh! I gotta finish this track today or else I'm going to run out of time! Oh I think I've got it. I was working on an edited pattern. I needed to save the pattern before I could save the preset. Hmmm..... --- In xl7@y..., "rob99brown" <rob99brown@y...> wrote: > Indeed! I'm not exactly sure what is going on for you, but when you press the Save button and even if the screen defaults to Save Pattern you can always scroll to the Save Preset item and do that. The screen just pops to the item within the Save menu that the system thinks is the 'most likely' thing you meant to save. But nothing is stopping you from saving anything else if you choose it manually. If the Pattern is 'dirty' (i.e. needs saving) it will show an * in the name. Note that many things that you do mark the sequence as dirty because most everything you do is potentially saved as MIDI events in the sequence. If you are just playing and don't intend on 'recording' the changes, just don't save even though technically the sequence is 'dirty'. If you are getting the Save Preset screen when you the Save button and you don't think you edited the Preset it is probably because you have Knobs Preset Quick Edit feature turned on, which means that whenever you move a Knob it is editing the Initial Controller Amounts of the Preset. You can turn that off if that is not what you want. It is a feature designed for people that want to tweak the sound using the knobs and then save the changes quickly as a snapshot of the 'current modulations' of the current preset. Scott
