Thanx for the reply.  I tried this out last night, and yes it does seem to 
work!  This is great news for me as it will greatly help me keep a 
smoother flow while switching patterns live!  Damn, now I gotta update all 
my patterns :)

i've done a real budget version of this in the past.  i made a two 
step arp which repeats twice on the first step and twice on the 
second (there is a two step minimum right?).  it plays a simple 4/4 
kick beat when latched on channel 1B using trigger 1.  i didn't find 
it much use cos i had to switch to triggers to mute it.  the only 
reason i tried it out was cos i was curious and thought it might come 
in handy for the basic beats if i ran out of sequencer channels.
