Where are the User BEATS stored?

Where are the User BEATS stored?

2010-12-26 by Bruno

Hi guys,

another thing that bothers me - more about P2K than XL7, but still...

I have P2K with Protozoa ROM and OS 2.26. So I have all those shiny
features - arps, beats and so on. However, in the beat menu I access
from the "Multi" button, I can select Master Riff only from audition
riffs in my ROMs (which are, I'm afraid, the same in both). I also
have the "User" bank, which says "(not installed)". I checked the
Orbit 3 manual, but there's no info about user beats. Anyone can share
some information regarding this topic?

Thanks,
Bruno

There are no user beats. If you have BTS riff in an installed ROM, you can use them.

Where the display says "(not installed)" you have a preset that is accessing a resource on a ROM that is not currently installed.

I hope this helps.

Well, then I see another interesting use for custom user-generated
ROMs - and those fancy USB-thingies, that were mentioned on XL7 list
:-)

Bruno

Footnote: I have never had an E-Mu Flash ROM (SIMM), but from what I have read, with an Emulator you can add samples and with a P2K machine you can write P2K style presets. I have never seen anyone mention anything about other resources such as arp/riffs.

I am wondering if someone knows how arps/riffs are encoded on a SIMM and if a new programmable device as has been discussed can have user arps/riffs.

Just wondering.
