Feature suggestion, very simple, easy to code, very useful.

Feature suggestion, very simple, easy to code, very useful.

Some people seems to have problems with the on/off button since they
accidently press it when play live. I know what it feels like, I've
done it a couple of times.

Here is the solution: The Waldorf Synthesizers also has the same sort
of countdown - a very fast 10 seconds (probably 2 emu seconds that
is), but you need to hold down the button instead of just pressing
it. If you release the button before the countdown has reached zero,
the synth won't turn off.

This is good for two reasons:

1: Time do not have to be 5 seconds, only 2 is enough. (You can turn
off it faster)
2: You never accidently turn the xx-7 off if you need to hold down
the button to turn it off.

Nice, isn't it?

Yes, this would make live sets a lot less... exciting :>

Well, this was the initial idea, but the hardware wasn't designed to
support it, and unfortunately, it is not an easy software thing (though
it does seem tham way, doesn't it?). My suggestion? Remove the little
button. You can still turn it on and off, but you'll have a hard time
hitting it accidentally... =)

Okey. I thought it was easier to code ;)

But well, I guess I will assign cutoff to another knob (the cutoff
knob is the one used most when playing live, also closest to the
on/off button) to another knob, this would slove the problems for me
at least...

By the way, the countdown is the first feature I really loved about the
unit. I've lost so much stuff on other boxes when I accidently powered
them down ...

Ask me how many times I've gone through and saved stuff one handed cause my
other hand was allready holding down the power button! Caught Midway as it
were... ;)
