EMU XL7 Diagnostics Test Sheet (the one they don't want you to see!)

2010-08-15 by Tony

Hello I am a new member of this group and I wanted to say hello with a question ; ) I remember a complete EMU Diagnostics sheet, something that your friendly, local EMU repair man would normally have, with key commands, mods, buttons, jumping MIDI cables, etc. the works! This was to test the machine out completely in diagnostic mode and further. Does anyone recall that paper or have it? If so could you please post it here?

Thanks Much,
Tony

If you find such a sheet, could you please share it here? Also, if you can't find anything at the e-mu site, maybe the good folks at http://www.eprelectronics.com/ have such a sheet and can share it.

Which diagnostic tests the Roms and how do I confirm they are good? I have purchased and received xl-7 and beat garden roms in the mail today from epr electronics. I installed them (which was a snap) and I seem to have access to the sound banks from preset mode. I ran the cycle test and it repeated 3 times before I stopped it. It didn't seem to say if any report positive or negative. There seem to be many diagnostics on my px-7 and I'm not quite sure which I should use.
Thanks for advice,
Matt

Why do you insist on running diagnostics if everything works (sounds and presets)?? Diagnostics are for things that DON'T work.....

Matt,

When I get a new piece of equipment, roms, whatever, I will run diagnostics
to ensure that the equipment or roms check out properly. It provides peace
of mind. Also many items can't be returned after a certain period of time.
Smart move. Many times I will initialize the piece as well, so I won't have
to deal with any problems that may have occurred with the previous owner.
