Hello guys, Can anyone share some ideas on how you do transitions or breaks between patterns/songs in live mode??? Also is there a way to define some general transitions(drum or synth transitions)??? Thanks

Two ideas 1. Suppose you have an 8 measure pattern. You want a smooth pattern playing on all the 8 measures with NO bridge/transition at the measure eight. a. Go to the function "extend length", and duplicate the length of the pattern, from 8 to 16. b. Go to the measure 16, you know, erase the kick, add a reverse cymbal or a percussion bridge transition. SAVE IT c. Go now to pattern length. Change it again from 16 to 8. SAVE IT d. Now you have again the same smooth loop of 8 measures, but when you want to make a transition to other pattern, go to pattern length screen and change it to 16. In this way, the pattern will go now from 1 to 16, not to 1 to 8, and then, the transition you recorded at bar 16, will make its job. 2. Create a multimode A or B track, that can have notes, or tweaks. REcord the transition in that track. It won't have effect, until you activate it. Good suggestions. I'll offer a third: Make a copy of your pattern into a new pattern (save to new location, ideally old location + 1) When you're ready to transition, switch to that pattern, then switch to the next. You could even make a pattern that specifically transitions from A to B (i.e. A, AB, B). Thanks for having the time to answer. Very good sugestions. I was normali use different patterns to make transitions. Well i observe on my Alesis micron that there are some keys define with general transitions. Probably some arps on drum sets. Well the ideea was to make something similar on xl7 and to have on some buttons, maybe the trigger ones, some general transitions. What Command Station OS do you have? yeah....we're back to my original dilemma. missing out on xmix etc cause i still have the original OS and cant upgrade. not going the pc route and only use windows at work. using pro tools le at home on a mac powerpc G4 running 10.4.11.
guess i'm keeping it old school minimal!
while i'm at it. how can i record arpeggiated loops that i test and like from the xl-7? i've got the x-lead rom that came with it and added the TSCY and protean drum roms. been getting back into it after the birth of my daughter. always loved the amazing depth and sounds on here and the patch cords and filters are sick.

i'm runnin' freeBSD, but when i got my XL7 with OS 1.0, i found a local
synth/computer guy who helped me get everything upgraded. i'd encourage
making that a priority.

I agree with atom smasher: it would be worthwhile if you can find someone near you to upgrade the OS. (I assume you cannot bring it in to work to do it on the windows machine there.) As for recording arps, I am not clear on what you want to do. Do you mean audition riffs? (Arp patterns in ROM and User memory already get played back when you record the base notes in a sequence and play the sequence back with a preset having the same arp pattern.) yeah, the audition riffs. wanna incorporate/tweak/blow up some audition riffs. as for the OS, that means finding a pc somewhere and upgrade to the new OS with eloader. very annoying that emu never made this stuff apple compatible. would have been much easier!
