what do you guys do with external FX?

what do you guys do with external FX?

I've only had my XL-7 for a couple months now, but the flexibility is crazy. playing with the sub outs, i learned a neat trick. if your sounds feel to thin, try something like a Boss sd-1. even switched off it gave a much fuller sound. similar tips?

I have been messing with these Sub Outs for a little while now.
Currently, Sub Out 1 is routing to an old Lexicon Vortex, with Sub 2 going to a Line 6 Echo Park. Both of these devices have tap tempo and delay sync type FX. I would also recommend using proper TRS (i think) send/receive cables, it makes setup both easier and reliable then a half inserted cable :)
Good Topic - who else is doing similar stuff !??

Nice, I use a Vortex as well, I like it because its a FX that you can program kinda like a synth, modulating with LFOs and such. I also use a lexicon mpx550, which can get some crazy sounds. An RE-20 roland space echo can do wonders for you set up, especially if your into dub. But my Electric Filter Factory adds madd balls to any sound ran through it especially bass, gotta love those analog filters.

I don't go straight from the outs to the FX, i use a mixer an old Mackie 1604, the thing has 6 aux sends, which makes it very versatile. I can have 4 FX on one channel, or multiple channels on one FX. The 1604 also has one pre-mix aux send, so if I have the channel volume down and turn the send up, I get just the effected signal.

I like the fact that you can use an insert from the MP7 into the effects, but I never use it.
