Song Overdub Track; Only MIDI Out A or B Not Both?

Unfortunately, that *IS* the deal. A Standard MIDI File track can only have 16 channels, so to address 32, you'd need two tracks. For complexity's sake, we didn't do that. I suppose it could have mirrored to A *and* B, but I didn't think of that...

You could always use MIDI Thru, but that's probably not what you want...

Without re-explaining the title, why? In song mode I want to overdub with gear connected to both A and B MIDI outs but it's only one or the other. What's the deal?

Thanks for the response, and the XL-7! Cheers!

Forgot to add: I was told to get a MIDI splitter like this one so to reduce any latency when chaining gear. Thanks again!

I would agree that Daisy chaining midi devices is not the best option. A thru-box or a midi router is better. (But it still won't let you overdub 32 channels in song mode. Can you do the overdubs in 32 measure or less chunks and use pattern mode?)

"Can you do the overdubs in 32 measure or less chunks and use pattern mode?"

Actually I recently just thought of doing this so I will give it a go. I just think I'll miss doing the mute records on the fly in song mode, even though that method can become tedious since every time a pattern starts again all the original mute settings come back up and then I would have to go back and fine edit the extra mutes out after the re-muting(those mute events can really add up!). I only have a few pieces of gear so using one MIDI out would be ok, just sucks having another one there with no practical way to use it. Hey maybe I can keep that one connected to the computer which will make one less cable I have to mess with when I finally get E-Loader to work with my PC(just completely formatted the hard drive and reinstalled XP so i will try again).
