XL-7 Boot Up Problem (another one bites the dust?)

Hello Everyone, It has been awhile since I've visited. Love the group by the way. It has helped me out before, and I hope it can again. My XL-7 may have finaly bitten the dust. When powered up, the unit does not go through its boot up process. You know, the one where it displays the unit type and OS running and then proceeds to function properly. Instead the display shows a line of black blocks across the top line, then they change to blinking dots, and then change to three dots, and finaly change to a cursor that stays in the left corner, motionless. Nothing other than the display lights up, and nothing works except the power bottons. I can't even get into diagnostic mode or OS download mode. How did this happen? I'm not sure. I let a friend borrow it. I went to his house and found it sitting on a huge 12" subwoofer. I tried to turn it on, and that's when I first noticed it malfunctioning. I think the subwoofers magnetic feild might have screwed up the memory. Though, I'm not sure if that can actually happen on an XL-7. Anyways, I took it home, turned it on, and it worked. Some friends even came over and used it. I lent it to my friend, again; and, again, the XL-7 malfunctioned. Only this time, it won't come back on. Anyone know exactly what has happened? I'm wondering if it is even worth sending in for repairs. I was hoping the blinking display might be some kind of message for techs to know exactly what the problem is. Oh, and by the way, I opened up the case and made sure all of the cables where connected. Everything looked okay, but I'm not an electrical engenieer. I most likely wouldn't notice if a transistor was bad or a microchip was missing.
