You cannot edit beats riffs; they are stored in ROM [SIMMS]. (Not all E-Mu Sound ROMS have beat riffs.)
You can:
(1) edit arps
(2) record a riff into a pattern [MIDI Out --> MIDI In] and then edit the pattern
(3) set up beats triggers and save the configuration with a multi setup
(4) use controllers to change beats triggers [see beats destinations for preset patchcords]
If you are trying to use beats, do you already have a good working knowledge of the various beats functions/paramaters [BEATS MODE, BEATS KEYS LAYOUT, etc.]?
Tip: When you create your our beats preset, name it with one or more caps so the navigator finds your own presets first, e.g., BTS:Space Race 1.
Hope this helps
