This is what I would do:
(1) Transfer all songs, presets, arps, patterns & global settings (essentially everything) into the other command station (you can use midi in to out of each machine, thru off).
(2) Physically move the ROMs to the new machine & place in the same slots, test the new machine to see if it all works like before.
Now you have a backup (the old machine) and the new machine cloned from the old. You can move the ROMs to the backup machine if the primary fails and now that will be a complete machine.
Note, any changes done to the primary will have to be reflected in the backup machine to keep them in sync...

I want to pick up the mp-7 or px-7 to use as a primary station with the one I have now as a back-up (I can't get past the ugly ass yellow!!) My question is; do I have to buy duplicate roms in order to properly transfer all the songs, presets, and patterns into the other command station, or can I get away with just the roms that I have and physically transfer those over?
