Bank Change commands

Bank Change commands

2008-10-18 by rs6000jade

Hi all. I have a Novation 25 midi controller connected to the XL7. I
have programmed the sliders and knobs, all good. However, I can't seem
to get the Novation to go past selecting the user bank as it uses the
data control and page up and down control and these seem to be hard
coded, not editable.

So I guess I need to set up a controller or controllers on the
novation to change banks, I have installed 4 rom boards. So Techno is
MSB 67, Beat 65,xlead 07, and xl7 14.

My question is, can anyone give the heads-up as how I might achieve
this using the Novation controllers? I tried various paramters CC,
Program change, rpn, I get some responses on the EMU, but can't change
the roms at present.

When you go past user bank on the novation the EMU says "not
installed", so additionally there my be something I can tweak on the EMU?

cheers and thanks.

I have had the same experiences with the same controller and get the
same message described here. I would not in addition that I have never
been able to get my Novation remote to change banks on any other
equipment by any other manufacturer either.

Several years ago I seem to recall trying to problem solve Novation-E-
Mu connectivity issues with a member. I recall downloading the manual
and Novation software. I will search the archives to see if the
iscussion produced anything useful to your issue.

Never mind. The discussion (from 2 years ago) was on trying to get a
Novation to control the Command Station's transport features.

BTW, here's what the Novation ReMOTE 25 manual says about bank
switching using both CC0 and CC32. (I am not sure if all Novation
midi controllers are the same.) Good luck.

FYI, The Evolution MK-249C has separate Bank LSB and Bank MSB
buttons. >>EACH<< button send out all 3 parameters needed to do
program changes in external gear (Bank Select LSB, Bank Select MSB,
Program change).

Sample single-button press from X-Loader's Midi Monitor:
bankSel ch: 0 ctrl: 0 val: 3
bankSel ch: 0 ctrl: 32 val: 5
progchg ch: 0 prg: 1

b0 00 03
b0 20 05
c0 01

--Steve

From ReMOTE 25 manual:
In Play Mode, it is possible to select sounds on external MIDI
devices directly by using the DATA / VALUE encoder and the PAGE UP /
DOWN buttons.

Use the DATA / VALUE encoder to transmit a MIDI Bank Select message
to a MIDI device. When the DATA / VALUE encoder is moved, the
display shows :

MIDI Prog Bank:
123

and a Bank Select message is immediately sent. After about half a
second the display reverts back to showing the current Template's
name. Note that the ReMOTE 25 always sends Bank Select messages
using CC32. This is used by most MIDI equipment, but some equipment
may use CC0 messages. If this option appears not to change the
Program bank on the MIDI device, it may be necessary to define
another template control to transmit CC0 values. See pages 27 - 30
for details on assigning controller numbers to controls.

Use the PROG / PAGE UP / DOWN buttons to transmit a Program Change
message to a MIDI device.
