What are you trying to do? Are you asking if you can modulate the
frequency of a ROM-based sample by a waveform? If so, (unless I'm
mistaken) you are limited to whatever you can do with the LFOs and
Patchcords.

Although I have emulated some 8-bit game sounds with the P2K synth
engine, I am not that familiar with Nintendo game console sounds. (I
tune the kids out when they play the Game Cube.)

I'm not sure if these will produce what you want, but as for
detuning, here are some options:
(1) Double a layer and offset the fine tuning.
(2) Add chorus.
(3) Use a filter (such as a phase-type filter).
(4) Use a patchcord (try for example White noise --> fine pitch).

Just some thoughts.

MP7, Pure Phatt or Mo Phatt ROM?

2008-09-30 by jimh

Hello folks

I'm a bit confused as I've seen different references to it, is it the
Mo Phatt or older Pure Phatt ROM that comes in the MP7? I just
acquired a PX7 although originally I wanted an MP7 so I'm looking for
the correct ROM. As it turns out I'm pretty happy with the PX7
soundset, there are some great basses on it including a couple that
sound so much like a couple of very distinct sounds on Portishead's
recent album, Third.

Oh and I guess we can discuss all Command Stations here not just XL7?

Thanks
Jim

I think I meant "Planet" Phatt (which is older than the "Mo" Phatt
set) although a quick Google tells me there is a "Pure" Phatt too!
Vintagesynth.com says

"9062: Pure Phatt 32 MB ROM - standard in Mo'Phatt, MP-7 and MK-6."

Can someone confirm that's correct for me? Thanks!

Jim

I've just seen this in the group FAQ

"the MP-7 ships with the Pure Phatt Sound ROM"
I noticed it before but I think I thought it was wrong/out of date as
I was confusing Planet and Pure Phatt ROMs.

Ok, move along, nothing to see here, thanks :-)

Where and how much did you pay for the px-7 i have been trying to
track one down for a min and always miss them on ebay? I have 2 mp-
7's right now and want to sell 1 and get a px-7 to go with it. anyway
welcome aboard.

Just replace the MP-7 ROM with a Protean Drum ROM and you have a PX-7 (except for the color).....
