on/off button seems to have stopped working

on/off button seems to have stopped working

2008-09-02 by just john

While going to test the Play button in Step Entry mode (it works as
advertised,) I found that my On/Off button no longer works.

I'm talking about the one in the upper left, not the switch in back.
And happily, it's stuck "On," otherwise it would be a lot more
frustrating (and impossible for me to diagnose.)

Anybody have this happen? Y'think a system reset would fix it? Is it
a tough or expensive part to replace?

I don't ever use that button. In fact, I pulled mine out. I use the switch on the back.

That said, it's possible that the switch doesn't work within that screen? Nope, mine does (if I push my fingertip into the hole).

Dunno. I'd seriously doubt resetting the software'd fix it. Push harder? If it really does need to be replaced, it's a really inexpensive part (like 10 cents).
