Dear Commanders, It's a shame, after using XL-7 for many years, but I can't find how to get the CS to put the sequenced data to MIDI OUT (too) by default. Till now I only used it for sequence itself and/or receive MIDI in messages. But now I've got an other gear which should be driven by the CS as a co-modul. I ran through the "Global", "Controllers" and "MIDI" menu, but couldn't find it. Do I have to set it up in every pattern? andrew

Is the recieving device set to the appropriate channel? Yes, it can receive data after setting it up in the "PATTERN" menu, but I'd like to use it as a default setting for every pattern... This sounds like its a problem with the other synth, not the CS. By default the CS will transmit track 1 to channel 1, track 2 to channel and so on. You shouldn't need to mess with that. As long as the synth is set to recieve on the channel that has some data on the CS, it should work, unless you bought it used and somebody messed with the Global settings. I don't mean the MIDI THRU option. It works fine. I'm watching that little green led (MIDI OUT indicator) when the CS plays a pattern. When it's blinking the other gear's getting the messages. But it had to be set up in the PATTERN section for that specific pattern (and specfic channel, but it's ok). I'd like switch it on for every pattern as a global function. By default, each track is set to the corresponding *internal* MIDI channel (i.e. track 1 to channel 1 internal). This default is fixed. You probably don't want to change existing sequences globally (as they'd mess up your existing sequences) but for newly created sequences, there is a workaround. Make a template pattern (you'll have to insert a dummy event on each track that you want the routing saved; something like a volume event) and save it. You can set up the routing how you like it in the CHANNEL ASSIGN page. "A" channels go out MIDI A, "B" channels go out MIDI B. You can set them to internal, external, or both. Once you save this pattern, you can copy it to any new location you want to use with the second save/copy screen, COPY PATTERN FROM. If you save your "template" preset in slot 000'0, you could just slam the data wheel all the way to the left to copy it into the current pattern and off you go. -Aaron

I have found this solution very helpful. For example, I still have one template called "16 Tracks->MultiB." This pattern has T01 --> T16 assigned to MultiB (ext). As placeholder values at 01.01.001 for >>each track<< I have on C01 Controller # 7 at v:127. Without this "dummy data," the OS will think the track is empty and will reassign it to the internal destination with the channel assigned as the same as the number of the track as sson as you save it. --Steve --- In xl7@yahoogroups.com, Aaron Eppolito <synthesis77@...> wrote: > > By default, each track is set to the corresponding *internal* MIDI channel (i.e. track 1 to channel 1 internal). Thank you Aaron! That's a good tip, and seems to be useful for other settings too.
