thank you all for your help, I did a reset also and still the same
affect. the best way to describe it is like random accents on the
sound. it happens regardless of track/drum present etc. at this
point i cant see how it could be any sort of intentional modulation
making the accents. although i plugged and plugged again, through
different mixers, etc, i think it was some sort of bleed in my cables
or mixer, which was not present before, but after several switches it
seems to be gone :D

fluctuations....it is actually easy to program using the modulation
matrix and is sometimes a desired effect to "humanize" a drum
preset....it can also be created with a slow/S&H phase summing effect
such as phase shifter that sums a phase/time shifted version of the
signal with the original....this will give the sonic appearance of a
fluctuations in amplitude at each beat....

preset, or a different factory preset (i.e. not one of the user
presets). Try erasing all events on the track (if you have 2.0, the
shortcut is to hold the erase button and press the track button for
the track you'd like to delete). You could twiddle the main volume
knob in the event that it's got a dirty contact (unlikely). Check
your master effects. Try putting the drums on a different track to
see if that makes a difference.
