BTS Catagory

BTS Catagory

2008-04-30 by yomtvstinks

Hello

I am new the this group. I tried to search for a similar article so
sorry if this has been posted before.

I am trying to access the BTS catagory. I don't see this at all when I
scroll through the preset menu. In fact i don't see raw catagory
either. Can someone explain the way this works? Do i need to reload?

I did to the Factory Reset 16 and 17. I should of not done 16 until I
was more familiar. I think I lost stuff

i've never seen it in the basic menu myself. but it's in XX-7 OS 2.0
Addendum.pdf which IIRC is in the files section.

i found trigger mode quick select and xmix and direct pattern access.
have to admit, i mainly use my xx-7 as a controller and havent gotten
as far as learning these features yet.

*********************************************************************
-Trigger Mode Quick Select on page 7
The three trigger button modes: Play Note Events, Play Beats Parts and
Select Patterns, can be selected without having to go into the
Controller
menu. The Tap Tempo button again functions as a shift-key, this time in
combination with the Trigger Mode button.
Repeatedly pressing the Trigger Mode button rotates through the three
trigger button modes. One of the three LEDs shown below will illuminate
while the Trigger Mode button is depressed to indicate the selected
mode.

To Quick Select the Trigger Mode
1.Press and Hold the Tap button.
2.Press the Trigger Mode button. One of the three LEDs shown above
will illuminate, indicating the selected trigger mode.
3.Press the Trigger Mode button repeatedly to rotate through the three
modes.

Where can I scroll through to find the names or the presets. Like in
the manual.

What about RAW catagory?

Re: BTS Catagory

1. Boot E-Mu
2. Press Preset button
3. Press cursor right button
4. Press cursor right button again
At this point, cursor should be under the preset prefix.
5. Use the BIG KNOB to navigate by preset prefix.

TIP:
The Preset Navigator finds CAPS before lower case letters (eg ARP
before Arp before aRP before arP etc.).

So, if you have Proteus ROM, P/1, P/2, & P/3 will be found before
presets with lower case prefixes. Also, If you create effects control
presets and name them !FX, they will be found even before presets in
CAPS.

6. After step 5 (above) press the cursor right one more time and you
can scroll though presets with the same prefix (not in alphabetical
order, but in order of appearnce in ROM). For example,
002^0 raw:Basic Saw
019^0 raw:Rave Organ
000^1 raw:S-Q Tube
001^1 raw:Sync4Sequence
002^1 raw:Prophety
003^1 raw:Ringer mono
etc.

Hope this helps.

when I scroll trough with the curser under ther prefix I do not see
any catagories with bts or raw. Is this correct? Do I need to create
them first? Maybe I don't understand completey. Would I expect to see
a catagory prefix BTS or RAW if I have not created them? If so how do
I restore them?

Presets are dependent on the sound ROM that's installed. BTS presets are only on the later version of the XL-7 ROM. RAW presets are only on some ROMs too. If you don't have 'em, it's probably just that version of sound ROM that you have. The last preset on each ROM is usually named after the version (like for the DRUM ROM, zzz:defaultv1.0").

Re: BTS Catagory

2008-05-08 by steve_the_composer

I was going to suggest trying to create a BTS preset, but my guess if
early versions of the XL-7 ROM don't have BTS presets, they probably
don't have BTS riffs either. (I could be wrong, though.)

I was also going to suggest trying to load them into user preset
slots, but if the rom doesn't have BTS riffs that wouldn't help either.

On the chance that rom does have them, it doesn't hurt to look.

Hey,
I've noticed that I don't have any BTS presets either. If they are
only on the later ROMs, is there anything to be done for us poor folk
who have an earlier version? Can I replace some of my existing presets
with BTS ones by importing a .mid file? Can I create my own BTS?

Re: [xl7] Re: BTS Catagory

2009-02-27 by Aaron Eppolito

Unfortunately, they're either there or they're not. There's no way to add BTS riffs if they're not on the ROM (i.e. there's no "user" riffs nor is the ROM writable). You could download the BTS *presets* into some user slots, but that won't get you the riffs, just the preset. The riffs could be downloaded into the sequencer via eloader, but they won't be available to BTS mode.
