Hi, Still fairly new to using my MP-7. I had read and re-read my MP-7 manual but I can't figure out exactly how to activate triggers to select which tracks I want to play and which tracks I'd rather start later in the song or pattern. Can someone explain how to control which tracks play in simple terms, I'd much appreciate it!

There are three uses for the triggers:
1.To mute/unmute the tracks of the sequencer. That`s the main function, when the light indicator of the button is at the left, on the Track Enable Indicator
2. When the light is on the triggers, you can:
1. Activate desactivate the "tracks" of the beats mode. When the preset is "bts" category, you can use the 16 triggers to activate the tracks of the beats mode
2. To select patterns. You can assign 16 patterns to each one of the triggers. This setup is stored with the multisetup
3. To assign patches of the current pattern you`re playing. In this way, you can assign a patch to be triggered, on latch mode, or with the arp on, and also select the note you want to use.
You have to program these features, from the controllers section. You can also change the triggers mode, holding Tap button and presssing track enable (correct me if I`m wrong)
Hope it helps

From the sound of you previous post, you seem to still be struggling with what you are calling "triggers." To me it sounds like you are talking here about track mutes, not triggers. Each button on your MP-7 can do different things, depending on what mode you are in. I. The set of 16 buttons (2 rows of 8 buttons)can function as triggers. II. They can also funtion as track mutes. III. (There are other functions as well, but let's not get into those right now.) To toggle between these two modes, press the button just above button 1. I. I believe another poster explained for you the 3 trigger modes (TRIGGER BUTTONS FUNCTION menu): 1. Play Note Events [I have used these to trigger arps--latch on/latch off.] 2. Play Beats Parts [Select a bts. preset and give it a whirl.] 3. Select Patterns [I don't use this, but I imagine others might.] II. Using the buttons to mute/unmute tracks. [Sorry; I don't have the time to explain this part of it, but I do believe this is what you are wanting to know how to do. Perhaps others can explain it from this point. Basically, track mutes and unmutes are recordable and editable.] Hope this gets you going in the right direction. --Steve --- In xl7@yahoogroups.com, "mrigit123" <mrigit123@...> wrote:

Thanks a lot Steve. That was very helpful, I'm still fairly new to using the MP-7 and this really helped a lot! - Jay --- In xl7@yahoogroups.com, "steve_the_composer" <smw-mail@...> wrote: > > From the sound of you previous post, you seem to still be struggling > with what you are calling "triggers."
