Hi I'm trying to grid record but the notes arent changing when i press a key like they usualy would. i turned the machine on and off(and turned the switch off in the back also). nothing worked... what could be wrong? my Mp7 is getting more and more screwed by the day.....

Hello,
in order to change the notes in grid record you have to exit
from the other menus like Preset, MIDI, etc.

Zsolt

i can change the notes with the data wheel but not by pressing a pad --- In xl7@yahoogroups.com, Zsolt Szabó <Zsolt.Szabo@...> wrote: > > Hello, > > in order to change the notes in grid record you have to exit > from the other menus like Preset, MIDI, etc. > > Regards, > > Zsolt > > > ----- Original Message ----- > From: "malik" <malik_martin@...> > To: <xl7@yahoogroups.com> > Sent: Saturday, March 17, 2007 7:25 PM > Subject: [xl7] Grind recording: notes not changing on LCD when i press keys > > > > Hi > > I'm trying to grid record but the notes arent changing when i press a > > key like they usualy would. > > > > i turned the machine on and off(and turned the switch off in the back

is it an external midi contoller you're trying?? have you tried using the onboard pads to change the note? and have you tried to change them on all channels? it could be a crazy midi routing problem? [zar]

thats funny i thought i knew that property inside out and kept going there but there seems to be a diff from channels and tracks with the track/channel buttons. wow...... thanks for the help this should be the answer --- In xl7@yahoogroups.com, Alwyn <zardac@...> wrote: > > > yeah it seems to be certain channels and no i'm using the pads on the

Alwyn's right. If you have a track set to "external" it won't work to change the key in grid rec (or any of the other menus either, like key range in the preset). A temporary workaround is to use a track set to "both" and a silent preset internally (like 127'3). This unfortunately has the side effect of not sending external program changes though. You could work around that with a single external "multiA" (or B) track that does all of your program changes but has no notes. -Aaron --- malik <malik_martin@...> wrote: > thats funny i thought i knew that property inside out and kept going > there but there seems to be a diff from channels and tracks with the > track/channel buttons. wow...... > > thanks for the help this should be the answer > > > --- In xl7@yahoogroups.com, Alwyn <zardac@...> wrote: > > > > > yeah it seems to be certain channels and no i'm using the pads on > > the > > > command station. thats weird what could it be??? > > > > > > perhaps check to see if on certain channels the midi is being > routed > > externally instead of internally? > > > > i guess a way to check that would be to hook up the xl7 to another > > synth or computer and just check to see if midi is appearing on the > > output when you hit the pads. > > > > i think the routing stuff is a pattern setting? i can't remember > > though.. hopefully someone with a more intamate knowledge of the > > machine can pipe up, if not ill have a look at the manual when i > get > > home... > > > > [zar] > > > > > > > ------------------------ Yahoo!
