Pattern & Preset Editor / Librarian / Translator for Emu Command Stations

Pattern & Preset Editor / Librarian / Translator for Emu Command Stations

2007-03-08 by Donn

Hi All:

OK, one more question: Does anyone make a piece of software for the
Emu Command Stations that serves as both a MIDI Pattern Editor and a
Preset / Patch Librarian? Or what separate pieces of software do you
now use that work well for these two functions?

On a side note, it would be great if someone wrote a program that would
simplify the process of converting / translating patterns from other
groove boxes (such as the Yamaha RS-7000) to / from the Emu Command
stations. Such a piece would greatly improve the amount of useful
patterns floating around in cyberspace for these devices :-)

Any info you can share on this would be much appreciated!

Peace & blessings,
Donn (donnwtwo)

As far as a patch editor/librarian, Proteum. Free for download at
http://www.emigr8.me.uk/ - been using it for a while and it seems to
be pretty stable and good.

PAttern editor, I'm really not sure. I usually just do my editing on
the XL unless I'm doing something that requires an extreme amount of
precision. If I was going to use software to edit the patterns, I
would probably say Cubase, but it's just as fast to edit on the
machine once you learn your way around it.

/>i was looking for a editor, but i did't found any very usefull, but .. finally i experience and now i'm using Fruity Loops for midi and the preset i, found it's much more easy to, edit them directly on xl-7, also .. after you finish an pattern in fruity you can press record on the xl-7 and press play on fruity and just wait to record the pattern ... i did't succed to edit the midi directly on xl-7, .... i found kind of hard to change the note's on chanels////but who knows
ask me in one month again////:)

I have a similar question, or rather, just need some clarification:

I'm a new xl7 user and my original plan was to run e-loader on an old xp laptop.  Unfortunately, that laptop would not recognize the xl7, and as I was trying to figure out why, it just dropped dead.  The laptop was old and crap and I have no interest in trying to revive it.

With no way to back it up, I was going to just sell the xl-7 right back off, but today I installed prodatum on my mac, and it all went so easily and got me so excited about just how deep this synth is, that now I'm rethinking.

With prodatum so easily editing and storing patches to my computer, is there some workaround to save patterns and sequences as well?  I had thought about just recording all the MIDI into Logic periodically, and keeping my fingers crossed in between.  Is that my best solution to not being able to run e loader?

As mentioned before, run parallels on your mac and make an XP vm.

eLoader worked for me that way to update the OS on my P2K.
