Hi all Im thinking about going down the PC multitrack recording route, as space has become an issue with my large soundtracs analogue mixer. Ive seen the Audiotrak MAYA 1010 PCI Audio Interface for very cheap money as its been discontinued. Has anyone got any experience with this card / breakout box? Any other min 8 input interfaces out there worth getting involved in? Guess the motu 828 mkll's are great but thats around £450.. Cheers guys Gonz

been looking at it for a while myself. but the reason i probably havent decided on buying it is cause i've never seen any reviews. discontinued already? something take it's place? --- In xl7@yahoogroups.com, "gonzinigonz" <gonzini@...> wrote: > > Hi all > Im thinking about going down the PC multitrack recording route, as > space has become an issue with my large soundtracs analogue mixer. > Ive seen the Audiotrak MAYA 1010 PCI Audio Interface for very cheap > money as its been discontinued. > Has anyone got any experience with this card / breakout box? > Any other min 8 input interfaces out there worth getting involved in? > Guess the motu 828 mkll's are great but thats around £450.. > Cheers guys > Gonz >

I saw it while ago but it was a bit more expensive. http://www.audiotrak.net/maya1010.htm I did see on there English site that it was now discontinued, but the above dosent say that.. Thomann in germany has advertised them at £97 but i dont think the've got any left now.. As far as i can see the only limitation is no extra ADAT connection like the Motu's have, so you are stuck with your 10 inputs (which ain't that bad!) If it did have the ADAT connection thought about getting a Behringer ADA8000 for another 8 analogue channels over ADAT.(+ another 8 outputs..) Im thinking XL-7 (back on topic!) straight into the SPDIF and the rest into the analogue inputs. Do all mixing and eq'ing in the PC. That way ive gained 4' by 3'of desk space! Also now im thinking firewire is the way to go as both the PC and laptop have a firewire port.. that is nice. i was also interested in the yamaha 01x(firewire, automated faders. lots of I/O onboard FX(ok not that great)and ASIO drivers) but it isnt cheap. found somethin similar that's fairly cheaper well it's cheaper by over $300 but it's got less features, but it still impressive. it's the edirol M-16DX you should check it out. http://www.sonicstate.com/news/shownews.cfm?newsid=4160 watch the video --- In xl7@yahoogroups.com, "gonzinigonz" <gonzini@...> wrote: > > I saw it while ago but it was a bit more expensive. > > http://www.audiotrak.net/maya1010.htm > > I did see on there English site that it was now discontinued, but the > above dosent say that.. > Thomann in germany has advertised them at £97 but i dont think the've > got any left now.. > As far as i can see the only limitation is no extra ADAT connection > like the Motu's have, so you are stuck with your 10 inputs (which > ain't that bad!) > If it did have the ADAT connection thought about getting a Behringer > ADA8000 for another 8 analogue channels over ADAT.(+ another 8 > outputs..) > Im thinking XL-7 (back on topic!) straight into the SPDIF and the > rest into the analogue inputs. > Do all mixing and eq'ing in the PC. > That way ive gained 4' by 3'of desk space! > Also now im thinking firewire is the way to go as both the PC and > laptop have a firewire port.. > Gonz > > > > > > --- In xl7@yahoogroups.com, "malik" <malik_martin@> wrote: > > > > been looking at it for a while myself. but the reason i probably > havent > > decided on buying it is cause i've never seen any reviews. > > > > discontinued already? > > something take it's place? > > > > --- In xl7@yahoogroups.com, "gonzinigonz" <gonzini@> wrote: > > > > > > Hi all > > > Im thinking about going down the PC multitrack recording route, > as > > > space has become an issue with my large soundtracs analogue mixer. > > > Ive seen the Audiotrak MAYA 1010 PCI Audio Interface for very > cheap > > > money as its been discontinued. > > > Has anyone got any experience with this card / breakout box? > > > Any other min 8 input interfaces out there worth getting involved > in? > > > Guess the motu 828 mkll's are great but thats around £450.. > > > Cheers guys > > > Gonz > > > > > >

That keeped me occupied for an hour! The bigger Edirol mixer looks cool 18 inputs has got a lot going for it. Yamaha box looks cool as well. Cant say ive seen any stand alone mLAN A/D convertors yet, but ive not been looking.. Just noticed the Yamaha i88X as well. All interesting stuff! Ive really not keeped up to date with the latest gear. Ive got my eye on some Motu 828mkll's at the moment... --- In xl7@yahoogroups.com, "malik" <malik_martin@...> wrote: > > that is nice. i was also interested in the yamaha 01x(firewire, > automated faders. lots of I/O onboard FX(ok not that great)and ASIO > drivers) but it isnt cheap. found somethin similar that's fairly > cheaper well it's cheaper by over $300 but it's got less features, > but it still impressive. it's the edirol M-16DX you should check it > out. > > http://www.sonicstate.com/news/shownews.cfm?newsid=4160 > > watch the video

Got the Motu 828mkII in the end on friday but been really busy with work all over the weekend so not explored it much. Had a bit of nightmare with the firewire port on my desktop and driver kaos with the laptop. It only likes my laptops FW port at the moment, i had to hack the registry to get it happening after i updated the software..... Think i need to get another FW card for the desktop.. Sounds good though, got the XL stuffed in it on 6 channels with Vegas. Not tryed the SPDIF input yet with it though. Hopefully will be back on the music making soon. Anyone else here got a 828mkII?
