Panzare,

What Sean meant was, the P2500 ROM(from the Proteus 2500)will be
released for the **-7 Command Station format as an expansion ROM
which means the sounds from it(P2500)can now be played in either of
the Command Stations but not any of the standard modules.

I hope this clears it up.

2500 ROM

2002-05-08 by payntaraspen

I just got the 2500 (P-ROM) (complete with Proteus 2000 sticker on
the ROM) by mail yesterday and I LOVE it !! It is the perfect
addition either xx-7 command station.

The string sections and winds fill in holes left out of the Solo
String/Wood & Brasswind ROM.

The kits are more acoustic then the MP-7 (MO Phatt ROM) kits, and
also work great with the World kits and percussion.

And the new jam based presets added with the new bts have added
hundreds of variations to the bts arsenal.

Some basses are Mo Phatt than the Mo Phatt's, (and REALLY, REALLY
LOW)

Finally, I now have some more straight-up guitars, Thanks EMU.

There is some redundancy with the P2000 (also installed in the
studio), but this ROM is a necessity for the command station users
who want to write anything conventional from time to time (works with
all styles, Jazz, Classical, Film/Commercial scoring...)

BTW: Musician's Friend had (or has) a promotion for the P-ROM, with
purchace of the xx-7.

Confused. Did you get the P2500 ROM or the Composer Rom? I didn't
realize the P2500 Roms were out yet. How much was it?

Re: 2500 ROM

I was confused too when I got it, and totally psyched !!

The sticker on the ROM says P-2000, the coupon from EMU said Proteus
2000 (free with purchase, sorry).

But as I cross-checked (emu.com) the 5 Banks of presets, they are
identical to the 2500 set, not the 2000's (7?) banks of presets.

Also, it was my understanding that the jam presets were absent from
teh P2000 presets. (bts with more of a melodic aspect?)

This ROM comes up as 'PROM' not 'CMPSR' on the screen.

You can imagine my surprize, and lack of sleep last night auditioning
635 new presets to work from...

Can I be the first to say "you suck!" :) I'm so jealous, I want that
P2500 Rom so bad, alas my funds are not up for it currently (or any time
soon)...

Re: [xl7] Re: 2500 ROM

2002-05-08 by Sean Wilhelmsen

Let me chime in. First off, Certain dealers in the US and Europe have
participated in a Command Station promo that involved the "Proteus ROM".
Most of them (dealers) have used the ROM as a promotional tool / bundle
with xx-7's. The Mystery "Proteus ROM" is in fact the same ROM that's
found in a Pk6 keyboard. There are 5 banks of presets, the first 4 are
identical to the P2500 and the 5th bank contains new presets, including
additional Beats presets. This ROM, Probably tilted "Proteus POP
Collection" when released, will be productized in July, exclusively for
xx-7, XK-6 and MK-6 owners.

Note. The PPC has been designed for the xx-7's 16 knob preset editing
layout. The P2K's ROM, or also known as the Composer ROM was designed
around P2K's 12 knob preset editing layout. As xx-7 owners, we were
convinced that you would want to receive the PPC ROM.

Answer for your next question. Why July, and not now? Simple, inventory
control and planned revenue flow. Once a date has been planned/created
to ship product, it's real hard to bring the schedule in. The ROMS that
some users have received do not come with any fancy packaging.
