The roms don't contain patterns or songs; they contain the rompler
sounds. If you reinitialize your unit, for instance, you have to
use the E-loader to put the original patterns (sequences) back on
it. The rompler sounds can not be altered on the roms themselves.
Getting roms or the Proteus software won't give you more tracks
unless you download them from the net, buy them, or sequence them
yourself with it, and you don't need the Proteus software for that
purpose unless you're just trying to get the sounds it includes that
are the same as on the XL-7 and its roms. I believe all the Emu
sounds, however, are available on CD's you can buy for use with any
piece of software, which the XL-7 can act as a controller for, as
well. I'm not sure if you can download the XL-7's rompler sounds
into a sequencer program for use on your computer en mass. That
would be cool, but you'll have to ask someone else about that. But
you can't transmit new raw sounds to the XL-7 without using a
special piece of hardware to create new roms. The patterns and
songs are just different ways of sequencing and otherwise using the
rompler sounds on the roms. I just sent 350 sequences to the XL-7
successfully for the first time without screwing the unit up or
deleting the original patterns, so it seems like I know what I'm
doing a little bit now...I think. If I'm wrong on this, someone
please correct me.

Proteus X sound module.. Since it is so expensive to buy the roms
now these days.. Can I transfer thru midi files sequences from the
software proteus to my Command station thru E-Loader to modify more
in-depth? If so I realize it would be cheaper to buy other sound
modules than roms.. I could download the patterns into my Emu and re-
arrange some things. I realize it won't sound exactly the same due
to not having the original Rom installed but I can surely make due
without a problem? Please share your thoughts..Is this possible?
