HEinrich,
I recently traded my P2500 for an MP-7 ONLY because I really didn't like the
layout of the P2500. As far as the sounds go, I've listened to many sounds
from
the various E-mu modules (P2000, B-3, Planet Earth, Extreme Lead, Mo-Phatt)
and as far as I can tell, the 2500 has a rich blend of sounds from all of
them plus
some additional new ones. It doesn't seem to have that many from any of the
newer ROM packs though, like the Beat Garden, Techno Synth and some of the
other recently released ROMs. But as far as a good base for the basic bread
and
butter sounds, in my opinion, the P2500 is the best module/controller E-mu
has.
Unfortunately, I REALLY don't like the design. They should have made it more
similar to the XX-7's design. It has it's own set of patterns and arp
patterns.
I don't believe the sounds are any fresher than the MP-7/XL-7s.

Subject: [xl7] New P2500 Rom Card for XX-7 - who demoed the p2500?
Would somebody care to comment?
I never heard the P2500 except the mp3s on the EMU sites.
- does it have a new wave forms or is it just the same soundset as
the p2000?
- Do the sounds overlap a lot with the ones in the mp-7?
- Are pianos (not the coakley one of course), organs, strings and
brass included?
- Are the cords in fifths missed out?
- Does it sound fresher because of new hardware (24 bit processing)?
- how about the patterns?
Thanx for your opinion.
