XL7 and turntable sync how ?

XL7 and turntable sync how ?

2006-08-18 by Zsolt Szabó

Hi,

we will do live acts soon using the XL7, some synths and effects,
nothing special. We did it quite a few times before and know our
practics. However a new element is 3 turntables in the setup.
The turntables will play mostly our pre-made loops and snippets
which will be inappropiate or impossible to play on the live at setup
as well as normal records allowing us time to initialize new songs,
load setups, fool around with sysex and so ...

If you have any good practices to sync the XL7 which is the master
in the synth setup to the turntables I'm listening ...

I couldn't find any besides the trial-and-error and slow crossfade
between the synths and turntable(s) but it's not always ideal....

Thanks,

    Zsolt

There are audio to MIDI clock converters available. I might even sell
you one if the price was right...

Aaron,

thanks for the tip.
In fact I have such a device already in my setup but since now
I never thought using it this way. It's a Lexicon MPX-1 which
might do the trick. I will experiment with it a little bit tomorrow ...

Regards,

    Zsolt
