Hi all As I was moving some ROMs around between my XL1, XL7 & PK6, I realized I have at least 2 ROMs that have no name on them, only a number. I would like us to complete the list for our data archive if there any any others out there besides the ones I have.....and if anyone knows any history on these "number only" parts..... OK, I am answering my own question.... It seems there is a lot of Emu ROMs (these were unopened packages when I bought them) that do not have names on them, only part numbers. All the rest of the ROMs I have have names on one side & part numbers on the other side of the SIMM. I'll list the rest/all of the part numbers below with me noting that the differences in the base part numbers represent different SIMM designs using either a different SIMM circuit board and/or different components: Siedlaczek: AP10498 Protozoa: AP10172-03 Xlead (XL1): AP10172-06 Xlead (XL7): AP10498-14 Turbo Synth: AP10498-04 Phatt: AP10498-13 Beat Garden: AP12068-16 Vintage: AP12068-23 Protean Drums: AP12068-24 If you guys find other part numbers, please add them to the list... Bob, thanks for starting the list. My (now defunct) P2500 Composer ROM has the following: W.O. # 59465 AP10498-20 I have created a link to your post in the files section http://groups.yahoo.com/group/xl7/files/ (L.A.W. - Links to Archived Wisdom). If you get a bunch of others and retype the post, I will change the link to the revised post. Got another one for the list. AP 10498-18 The guy I bought the unit (PX-7, with extra ROM) from said it was the X-Lead v2 ROM, and the sticker on it says "Proteus 2000 sound expansion XROM1"... but it's got 5 (five!) banks of presets on it, the same ones as the XK-6 (I checked the XK-6 manual to confirm). Did E-mu sell that ROM seperate from the keyboard? Al Toronto, Canada --- In xl7@yahoogroups.com, "bob_at_work_2000" <tttsystems@...> wrote:

Some more research later... it's almost definitely the X-Lead v2 ROM, I think. It's got all of the instruments and presets from the XK-6 (more than the XL-7), but more audition riffs than are listed in the XK-6 manual. Was there any documentation that came with the XLv2 ROM? Anyway, the details for the list... AP 10498-18: X-Lead v2, ROM-ID=14, reads as "XROM" on display. --- In xl7@yahoogroups.com, "vermis_rex" <vermis_rex@...> wrote:

X-Lead v2 was the ROM that came with the XK-6 keyboard. It's an updated version of the original XLead set which came with the XL-1. It was reworked for the XL-7, then reworked again for the XK-6. It should have a bunch of "key" presets that were designed for the keyboard. There might have been a while when the XK-6 shipped with an "XK-6" soundset, but that would have been short lived, if at all (I can't remember). Eventually, the goal was to standardize all of the 16-controller products on one ROM (per type). I can't remember if that ever happened, or if production stopped before it did. -Aaron --- vermis_rex <vermis_rex@...> wrote: > Some more research later... it's almost definitely the X-Lead v2 ROM, > I think. Yeah, the sticker on the ROM identified it as XROM1, the same as the XK-6 ROM (though it comes up as just XROM). And it has the same instruments and presets (including the XK-6 jam: presets), but the riffs list is different. Only 252 instead of the 331 listed in the XK-6 manual, and in a different order. Was there any documentation that came with the XLv2 ROM packaging? It was already installed when I got the unit, and didn't come with any other details.
