ive scrolled thru many pages here on the troubles of getting the e- loader to work right with win xp. well, i have the same problem and i didnt notice any answer. i uploaded the mp7 to 2.0 before i even hooked it up via usb. when i do, i get the same old 'device not recognized' message. not even a chance to load drivers. was there any solution to that? or dont even bother? many, many thanks again!

well ill be..... after i posted this last night, i took a shot and dug out an old belkin usb hub. the hub is usb 1.0. i plugged in the mp7 to the hub and it worked like a charm. i have no idea why it worked, but it did. that little hub has helped me out alot over the years! --- In xl7@yahoogroups.com, "antret" <antret@y...> wrote: > > ive scrolled thru many pages here on the troubles of getting the e- > loader to work right with win xp. well, i have the same problem and i

Might be a driver thing or hardware issue.. Over the past several years I have tried a number of times to get Windows XP to accept the E-Mu e-loader usb drivers. I tried all kinds of work arounds without any success. My guess (100% speculation) is that Microsoft changed something in the usb enumeration process for the sake of plug 'n' play convenience that makes hardware not available via usb. I would be very happy to have usb capability with e-loader on the XP. My guess is that someone has to figure out a way to get both usb0 and usb1 drivers registered past the point where the XP OS gets hung up. Unfortunately, I don't know enough about XP to be able to figure out how to do that. Anyone else have suggestions? (BTW I got as far as having one or the other e-mu drivers accepted by XP, but never both at the same time. Regrettably, I don't recall how I did that.) --- In xl7@yahoogroups.com, "antret" <antret@y...> wrote: > > ive scrolled thru many pages here on the troubles of getting the e- > loader to work right with win xp. well, i have the same problem and i > didnt notice any answer. i uploaded the mp7 to 2.0 before i even > hooked it up via usb. when i do, i get the same old 'device not > recognized' message. not even a chance to load drivers. was there

Hmmmmmm. Could be that the XP OS for usb 2.0 messes things up. I had usb set up with e-loader on a Win98 system. I am sure it was usb 1.0. What do I need to put usb 1.0 on the XP? (What's a usb hub and where do I get one?) --- In xl7@yahoogroups.com, "antret" <antret@y...> wrote:

> What do I need to put usb 1.0 on the XP? (What's a usb hub and where > do I get one?) Expands the USB port into 2 or more conenections (usually 4) but they still all share the same port. USB 1 devices are really cheap now as USB 2 has taken over pretty much. Ebay? local cheap kizmo shop? Ive got XP on my laptop, l'll try it and post my findings.. Gonz

just tryed eloader here on the laptop via usb and its working.. this is what i get in the device manager. under system devices > e-mu usb device, interface 0 drver details:- C:\windows\emuusb0.inf C:\windows\system32\drivers\emuusb.sys system devices > e-mu usb device, interface 1 Theres no driver details for this one. dont know if thats an issue or its normal? its all working with no yellow question marks or exclamation marks in the device manager. I did just have an issue when i un-plugged and then re-plugged the usb. I could only set the usb midi input device and there wasnt any device listed for the usb midi out. Rebooting the machine seems to of cured this. (i hadn't rebooted since installing drivers..) I had to install the emu usb drivers although i had already installed e-loader some time back. Cant 100% remember if i used it at the time.. It asked about driver signing, but i installed anyway. seems fine. Cheers Gonz --- In xl7@yahoogroups.com, "steve_the_composer" <smw-mail@p...> wrote:

ive had to re-load the emu drivers every time i plugged it into the computer as well. that seems to be a bit odd, but its quick and it works, so i'll 'suffer' through. strange stuff to say the least.... --- In xl7@yahoogroups.com, "gonzinigonz" <gonzini@f...> wrote: > > just tryed eloader here on the laptop via usb and its working.. > this is what i get in the device manager. > > under system devices > e-mu usb device, interface 0 > drver details:- > > C:\windows\emuusb0.inf > C:\windows\system32\drivers\emuusb.sys > > system devices > e-mu usb device, interface 1 > > Theres no driver details for this one. dont know if thats an issue or > its normal? its all working with no yellow question marks or > exclamation marks in the device manager. > I did just have an issue when i un-plugged and then re-plugged the > usb. > I could only set the usb midi input device and there wasnt any device > listed for the usb midi out. > Rebooting the machine seems to of cured this. Do you get the same entries in system devices? Do you get yellow question marks ot exclaimation marks in the device manager? l'll try mine again to see if it wants drivers again when you first pug it in. Gonz --- In xl7@yahoogroups.com, "antret" <antret@y...> wrote:

mines ok here, no problems at all. are you plugging it back into the same port each time? if not this will cause windows to look for drivers.. Gonz --- In xl7@yahoogroups.com, "antret" <antret@y...> wrote:

Somewhere I saw a checkbox in Windows XP that (if checked) seemed to imply usb errors would not be reported. If I could find it again, I might retry installing e-loader usb drivers to see if it might help. Has anyone seen such a check box? If so, could you help me find it again?

A quick google came up with this! This is for a SiS PCI/USB Host Controller, but it may be relevent to your setup.. Disable USB Error Detection for Win98SE or Newer OS In Windows Standard Mode, Device Manager, USB Host Controllers, SiS USB Host Controller, Advanced, Enable the function (Disable USB Error Detection) http://www.usbman.com/Guides/SiS%20USB%20Tips%20and%20Tricks.htm Cheers Gonz --- In xl7@yahoogroups.com, "steve_the_composer" <smw-mail@p...> wrote: > > Somewhere I saw a checkbox in Windows XP that (if checked) seemed to > imply usb errors would not be reported. It's in the Device Manager. Right click on the entry for the host controller, click properties, then click the advanced tab. Checkbox is at the bottom. HTH D --- In xl7@yahoogroups.com, "steve_the_composer" <smw-mail@p...> wrote:

There are no USB drivers for the XL-7 in Mac OS 9 - you must use MIDI for all communications with E-Loader (either OMS or emulation of OMS in FreeMIDI and an OMS/FreeMIDI compatible MIDI interface). --- Mibrilane [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]
