Okay I thought I was going to insert a stop or cut off the rest of the bar.beat at the end of a pattern. I went into the event edit screen to add a bunch of mutes (I'm still looking for a better way of stopping a song) when I came across C01 prog:0 m:off l:off. Can someone please tell me what I use this for? It looks cool. I hope its useful. Peace! Brandon

Hi Check this post out.. same thing differant problem message No:- 17052 its all there.. Dont think you can insert mutes into a pattern? Why do you need the bar to stop before the end of the bar? cant you just create a new pattern and make sure its blank after that point? C01 = midi channel 1 prog: 0 = change program/patch/preset to the program/patch/preset in slot 0 m = msb = most significant bit for bank switching l = lsb = least significant bit for bank switching Since msb and lsb are both off in your example, the midi event tells the synth to switch to preset/patch 0 in the current bank on midi channel 1. Try changing prog to another number and see what happens. Now, select a preset in one of your roms, then press audition. Do you see an lsb and and msb number? If so, those numbers designate rom and bank number. If you want to insert a program change in the middle of a sequence, you can add it using pattern edit if you know the rom number, the bank number and the preset number. Hope this makes sense. As for ending a song, why not just press the stop button? Or why not assign a foot pedal to stop the sequencer? In pattern mode, patterns continue until you stop the sequencer. However, in song mode, you can chain patterns together and have a STOP at the end of the chain. If you have an 8-bar pattern in the middle of your song that you want to use at the end and have it stop after measure 6 beat 2 (for example), why not just copy that pattern to another slot, change the length to 6 measures, and delete all the notes and events after beat 2, and put a STOP even after it? --Steve --- In xl7@yahoogroups.com, "zerolatencyproductions" <zerolatencyproductions@y...> wrote: > > Okay I thought I was going to insert a stop or cut off the rest of the > bar.beat at the end of a pattern. > Dont think you can insert mutes into a pattern? I don't think I can either. I was going to copy a pattern to cut off the ends at diffrent beats. Then I realized it'd be easier to insert the mutes in song mode where I want them. > Why do you need the bar to stop before the end of the bar? It sounds better and it takes the end of the song somewhere. If I just repeated the same bar 4 times and abruptly ended it, it sounds repeatative and cheap. > cant you just create a new pattern and make sure its blank after that point? Yeah, but it would be much more work. I would have switch to pattern mode, copy the pattern to another location, and then erase all the notes after the cut off point on every track. Instead, in song mode, I can step to the end of the song; and while in realtime record, mute all the tracks when the time/beat comes. Then I can go into the song event edit mode, and place them exactly where I want them with click point precision. I'm fixing to look up that post you where talking about. I gotta figure out how to find it real quick. Thanks Steve. That does make sense. Now, I gotta figure out how to use it. Can I insert it using just the command station or do I need some kind of sysex editor? Thanks Brandon, P.S. Here are my answers to your questions. > As for ending a song, why not just press the stop button? Or why not assign a foot pedal to stop the sequencer? I want to have everything programed into the sequencer for several different reasons. Mainly, so if I'm not paying attention everything will progress or stop the way its supposed to. I just answered another post that asked me a similar question. See that reply if you want for more reasons why. > example), why not just copy that pattern to another slot, change the length to 6 measures, and delete all the notes and events after beat 2, and put a STOP even after it? It takes way too long. Again, see my reply to the other post. After experimenting all day with the subject, I found that its easier to record the mutes in song mode when needed and place them in the song event edit menu. --- In xl7@yahoogroups.com, "steve_the_composer" <smw-mail@p...> wrote: > > C01 = midi channel 1 > prog: 0 = change program/patch/preset to the program/patch/preset in > slot 0 > m = msb = most significant bit for bank switching > l = lsb = least significant bit for bank switching > > Since msb and lsb are both off in your example, the midi event tells > the synth to switch to preset/patch 0 in the current bank on midi > channel 1. > > Try changing prog to another number and see what happens. > > Now, select a preset in one of your roms, then press audition. The edit pattern menu system has two editors: (1) edit notes and (2) edit events. In the event editor, you can press repeat to insert a new event. One of the event types is the program change event. > After > experimenting all day with the subject, I found that its easier to > record the mutes in song mode when needed and place them in the > song event edit menu. Sounds like a good solution, too. --Steve
