On the topic of roms

i make drum and bass and have the mo phat rom(mp7) what roms do you
suggest i get? was thinking of the xl7 and some of the rob papen stuff.

and anyone got any tips to make the drums hit harder straight out of
the mp7?

was thiking of adding a light distortion to alll of the drum presets
but that might suck considering the quality of the distortion:)

simply add a compressor across the aux outputs, and obviously just put the
drums on this output. that'll make 'em sound harder and aggressive.

i went live at the weekend with my band, alaskahighway, and was using an old
roland r8m drum rack triggered from my drumKat / custom drumtree
configuration (basically a stand-up electronic drum kit). a few people
asked afterwards what source i was using as it sounded really dynamic - just
a compressor & an old $100 drum machine!

if you have time check out

0.mp3>

making sure you get the whole link otherwise the download will fail.

adding stuff like reverb & echo makes the sound a bit softer, so try to
avoid that at all costs.

was hoping you wouldnt say that but it's inevitable anyway will have
to add some thing at the end of the outs. i think i will use one of
the subs strictly for drums.

compressors can be cheap though - we use behringers live so if they break we
chuck 'em away & load in another one. i think ours is the composer pro -
does the job well enough and a smidgen over $100.
