I hate that preset-management...

I hate that preset-management...

2005-06-02 by lelektronik

Say i got a KIT-01 and i want to decrease the RELEASE of the kit for a
pattern where i need a kick shorter than the preset's. I have to save
new presets for every modifies i do on it? I got other grooveboxes and
the modifies u do to samples on them REMAINS PER PATTERN! Damn it i
got 40 pattern so i must do 16X40 presets overwriting others... :(

If you're doing simple knob tweaking (like release, in your case),
simply record the controller at the beginning of your pattern. Use the
step editor (the 3rd record mode) and wiggle the knob to where you want
it at tick 0. That way, it'll only play the first time through the
pattern. No preset saving necessary.

Burning Your own ROMs for XL-7

2005-06-02 by K4d4w3r

Hey...I've got a question...
Is it possible to burn your own ROMs for XL7 on Emu E4
Ulltra (sampler) and if its possible could someone
give detailed instructions how to do that?

Yes, you can. Detailed instructions come with the flashROMs. You
might be able to find that manual on E-mu's site.

I've Searched the EMU site for some info but didnt
found anything...
Could anyone tell what kind of flash rom's are
suitable and how to get the sounds ready for burning,
and how to burn them using E4 Ultra

The proper term to search is for this info is "ROM Authoring".

Here is the pdf file on E-mu's site with the instructions.

http://www.emu.com/support/files/storage/Sound_Author.pdf#search='emu%20rom%20authoring'

Very few of us have done this because of the extremely high price of the ROM needed, was >$350. There are some up on Ebay now.

Hm...Thanks alot for the info...
By the way... The Roms used in Command stations look
like the standard 72pin simms like for PC operational
memmory... Could some sort of flashRoms not from EMU
be used for this operation?

No. I believe we have discussed this in the past and found no acceptable substitution for Emu's flash ROM. Anyone can correct me if I am wrong.....

Emu is the only choice.

A smart gal or feller would clone it to sell for $50-100 less!

Thats not the good news... But thanks anyway...
Not good news, because i'm from little country in the
middle of europe, called belarus, heard about the last
european dictatorship? Lukashenko? it's where i'm
from, and we have a lot of problems with geting some
stuff, for example some synths or something,,,And for
the independent electronic musician there is no way to
get something at all, because there is nowhere to get
money for the stuff...computers and their parts a
easely found, so thats why i thought of possibility to
use PC rams ...
Thanks to all for help )...

items brought into from another country ?

Sorry to hear that. All the ROMs are pretty flat and can be put in a small
stiff padded envelope so at least you can get some new sounds into the XL7
that way.....

Re: [xl7] Burning Your own ROMs for XL-7

2005-06-05 by K4d4w3r

Yeah, I understand this... But there are two things
more about the Roms...First, if they cost for about
200 $ its like the month payment for the Job, and the
second is tha i'm deep in programming synths, so i
dont really need the presets from this roms, i need
new wave forms,)...
Ok, it's not really polite to tell all of you, about
the problems of my country and our electronic
musicians...So just forget about this, we'll try to
strugle ourselfs. If some one is interested in my
music, you should search for the band called Terra
Cadaveris with the album named "Genetic
constructions:Factor D.N.A." it was recorded a year
ago, only using software and very old computer, just
at home without any studio mastering. next album for
another prject i hope i'll record only using hardware.
And when some track's are ready I'll send the links
for interested folk...
