Proteum Editor?

Proteum Editor?

2005-02-14 by lecafard2001

I need the Proteum editor...anybody use this? Any site download?

Re: Proteum Editor?

I have never used it. I see they lowered the price. It used to be
$110, if I remember correctly. Seems like they give you 10 hours of
free usage before you have to buy a site license.

http://www.saxonite.co.uk/proteum/proteum.stm

Hope this helps.

Proteum be 50 $, but don't work fine with my xl7 and winXP :/

I'm surprised it won't work on XP, works great on 2000 and according
to the site:
Proteum is designed to run on PCs or compatibles running Microsoft
Windows 32-bit operating systems including Windows 98 and Windows XP
- I paid $70 for it last year, a good investment. Have you contacted
their tech support?

I had just run the demo, and when I try to modify a parameter in the edit
mode, in the patchchord ...>> nothing, the value stay in 0. :/

May be (certainly) is a problem with my current multisetup ? Do you have any
precisions to your xl7 configuration ? (rechannelize ? Midi configuration ?)
thanks.

Which demo did you run when you had the problem--PatchPro or Proteum?

If it was PatchPro Demo 1.0, first check your midi configuration:
(1) Select MIDI | Open. This opens the midi drivers window.
(2) Make sure the correct midi ports are selected for your output
and input devices.
(3) Click OK.

Next, make sure your sysex ID is correct.
(4) Select Synth | Get configuration.
SYSEX ID should either be (a) 127 (all broadcast-assuming the
computer is only connected to one e-mu on the selected midi port) or
(b) whatever sysex id your e-mu is set at. (The default is 0; but
you can check one of the midi menu settings on the e-mu.) Also, note
the channel you are using. (The default is 1.)
(5) If you have not done so already, continue with the configuration
setup by reading the roms in your e-mu.
(6) Save the configuration when done, if you have not done this
before.

Next, double check your configuration by getting a bank.
(7) Select Synth | Get bank.
(8) When the Preset Load window appears, try to load some presets.
-->SUGGESTION: bank: 0, Rom: User, Start Preset: 0, End Preset: 10
(8) Press start; monitor the progress bar.
Does the software load the presets? Or, do you get a timeout message?

Assuming you get the 10 (or more) presets, try to edit.
For this step, make sure you are looking at the e-mu in view preset
mode (the third button between the main lcd display and the bpm
display). You can monitor changes if you are on the same channel as
set up in the software configuration--for example, C01A, if you left
it as channel 1 and your midi in on the e-mu is routed to port A.

(9) Double click on one of the presets in the User Bank window.
Does the preset change on the e-mu (for example, 008^0)? If so,
continue:

(10) Select Preset | Layers 1 & 2
(11) In layer 1, click select (right below the rom instrument name).
Does the list of rom instruments appear? If so, continue:

(12) Select a different rom instrument; look at thedisplay on the e-
mu.
Does an asterisk (*) appear after the name of the preset?
If so, the editor should be working properly. Press audition and
listen for differentce when you change rom instruments.

If there are problems at any step along the way, your results can be
used to try to diagnose the problem.

Hope this helps.

PS: I did these steps on my P2500 (OS2.0) with PatchPro Demo 1.0,
not the paid version, to make sure they work.

Re: PatchPro Editor (TRY THIS FIRST)

2005-02-15 by steve_the_composer

READ THIS FIRST:

PPS: There may be a simpler solution. There are two buttons in the
patchcord window: Change and Off. If you press Off (thinking its OK),
the value changes to 0 (zero) and both destination and source change
to Off. Instead, press the button on the left--Change.

EXAMPLE:
----------------------------------
Patch Cord 01 Amount < [] > 10
Source . . . . . Destination
MidiH . . . . . .Lfo 2 Rate
. . [Change] . . . [Off]
----------------------------------
. . ^^^^^^^^

Hope this helps.

Thank's for your help.

It's proteum but I can test the patch pro if it's fully functionnal.

Steve quote "For this step, make sure you are looking at the e-mu in view
preset Mode"

oups I'm not in edit mode I think, I go test it this night.

Re: Proteum Editor?

2005-02-15 by steve_the_composer

I can't help with the proteum, since I have not used it. Perhaps
others can.

As for being fully functional, PatchPro 1.0 uses sliders for the
envelops; it does not have a click-and-drag graphic interface.
Also, it does not have arps. However, a week or so ago I heard from
the author. He is working on several improvements--including arps
support. The beta version he sent has an arps window for selecting
mode, pattern, and the various arp settings. So far, it does not
have a window to select from arp patterns by name--just by number.
Also, it does not yet have an arp pattern editor.

As for sound design--editing, layers, controllers, patchcord,
effects, and links--it works for me (WinXP, P2500--OS2.0, XL-1--
OS2.26 via an old parallel-port MOTU midi interface).
