Considering buying an xl-7 but was wondering about sampling

2004-09-01 by iwalker78

Hi, I was considering buying an xl-7 but was wondering if you could
now save your own samples to rom on the unit with the e-loader prog.
Someone said this would be possible with 2.0 op system. Is there a
way to save your own samples to rom without extra kit?

Nop! only by authoring your own flash simm modules in an EMU sampler
(that supports it)
Thats about £200 for the ram + sampler + time.

I'm pretty sure that the ROMs alone are more than that, if there are any
left that is.

I found some flash ram for £200, someone did say that they would
flash one with all the samples i gave them and name them correctly
for around the same price (he was in the states)
I choose not to that seeing as i have a sampler sitting here.
Would be nice to have my drum samples in there though..
I paid £80 for the protean drums about 6 weeks ago from thomann in
Germany

Yeah, I've been eyeing that for months now, supposedly it's finally
getting released this month. Pretty expensive though, about $2500.

Hi,

A XX-7 can't sample. You cannot bring in your own samples, e.g. a
vocal. It's not a sampler.

Wait...there is a way.....

The only way to bring in your own samples is using an Emu Esynth, E4 or similar authoring capable sampler, create a your own ROM using an Emu flash ROM (still ~$300 at their web site), move the newly programmed ROM from your sampler to your xx-7 and there it is........(pretty expensive and painful).
