Subject: [xl7] OT: orange vs. aah-range
New Yawk accent?! Nah.
I grew up around Los Angeles and now live around Phoenix, and without any
exception I've observed, folks here pronounce "orange" to exactly rhyme
with
"door hinge". I've occasionally heard the "bar hinge" variation, but
always
associated it with "east of the Rockies" dialects...y'know, people who say
"Oil" is a man's name, and "Earl" is a lubricant. ;)
Enlighten me. I'm a strictly "west of the Rockies" kinda guy.
