I need help, I have been told that the operating
system on the XL-7 has been updated several times
since it was issued. My question is how do I update
mine. I am currently running OSX on my mac. Any
suggestiions would be most appreciated. Thanks kash

using a mac w/ xl-7

2004-08-06 by djnorythm

Hey,

  I use os9 mac and a pc laptop w/ my command station. I am
not sure if the emu os loader app works in OSX. Don't get too
attached to the usb port on your command station, for mac users
it is useless. On the mac, all os transfers and data transfers are
done with midi.

  I would suggest trying to update your os in "classic" mode on
your mac. All of the FAQs and os apps for the xl-7 are here
http://www.emu.com/support/files/download2.asp?Centric=560&
Platform=2

  Check what OS you have now and then make sure to read
wether or not you have to do an "os prep" for your machine.

  I bought a crapped out pentium i 233mhz laptop, so that I could
hook up my MP-7 and mpc via usb and use that next to my mac
running other stuff.

  Good luck and enjoy.

I can verify that e-loader doesn't work in OSX. My new powerbook doesn't have the option
to start-up in OS9. (a bad decision on Apple's part) The classic environment hasn't
worked for me either, when starting up in OSX. Luckily, I still have my old iMac running
OS9 only. To use e-loader you'll have to start up in OS9- go to system pref,'s and choose
OS9 (or Classic) as the start up disk. (this was how I was able to do it using my eMac)
You'll also need the OMS app. To install e-loader and the OMS app. on your computer,
make sure you've started up in OS9 first.

Move to quarantaine
